Whilst not completely RPG related I thought this might be of some interest to people here due to the large amount of roleplaying in megagames - apologies if this is not of interest...

I wanted to make you all award of the launch of a new London-based megagame group - Horizon Megagames. Also, and of perhaps more interest to you, tell you about our first games and let you know how you can sign up to them.

The focus for Horizon Megagames will be on sci-fi, fantasy, horror and other games set on worlds that are very definitely not our own. This will include games of epic space battles; of grim and gritty urban futures; of dragons, orcs & elves; of 80s teenagers battling monsters; and more or less anything else that sits outside the more traditional real world and historical settings used in many megagames.

Our first game, coming up very shortly on 24th February, is ‘A World Divided’, from South West Megagames’ John Mizon. It is a game of sci-fi rebellion set in the year 2411 on the world of Rosal as colonies fight for freedom from the Earth-based superpower of the Federated Atlantic Syndicate.

Players take the roles of the various colonial leaders of Rosal, senior military and political leaders of the FAS, and the mysterious, thought-long-lost, First Settlers. There are a mix of more map-focused military roles, more diplomacy-focused political roles and those that cross all parts of the game.

South West Megagames successfully ran the game last year and have kindly offered to put the game on for us in London. Expect all the usual treachery, political backstabbing and undeclared acts of war you’ve come to expect from some of the best megagames.

For more information on the game itself you can check out the website of John Mizon, the designer - https://www.swmegagames.co.uk/a-world-divided

Then on March 17th, Jim Wallman brings ‘Watch the Skies’ back to London! This time in the form of ‘Watch the Skies Lite’, the new, sleeker version of the game. For this run we are aiming the game at new players who’ve not played many megagames - so if you’ve been wanting to play but not had a chance this is the perfect opportunity. This game is very nearly full though so get in touch quickly about this one!
