I only know what I have seen said; I am probably one of the least qualified men on Earth to interpret the mind of Margaret Weis. :)

To that I say.

Perfect answer. Chronicles and Legends.

I will not miss summer of chaos although perhaps the children of the next generation.

I like the novels as a source of inspiration for my own stories. In my game I would rather to add my own personal touchs, for example adding psionic or the knights could become "martial adepts".

Or I could create an alternate timeline where Raitlin almost caused the apocalypse but this changed his plan (among other reasons a truce with the rest of divine powers because the greygem was broken and Chaos was free) and then he allowed the arrival of "planar refugess" from Athas.

Or the Cataclysm was caused as an effect of a secret "multiversal war" when the kingpriest wanted to summon his divine variant from other timeline.

Or the original novels are "rewritten" with sutile changes like a new secondary character... (who is the secret half-irda daughter of Raistlin from the future).

Now I am thinking about the possible PC species besides the kenders. We have got the ursoi(bearfolk), the Thanoi(walrus men), minotaurs, hobgobling, kyrie(like raptorans from 3.5 Races of the wild), or the Tayfolk (twin brothers, one is the brain and the other the muscle). And draconians as a PC specie style dragonborn variant? (I ask the noble draconians: flame, frost, lighting, steam and venom). What about the dragonspawns and dragon-vassals (created by the dragon overlords)? And half-irda as PC specie?

Will we see an artificer subclass for the gnomes from Mount Nevermind or for the forgers of dragonlance (the legendary weapons)?

What if the famous modules/adventures were updated to 5e style "Curse of Strahd", with any retcon?

What if there is an alternate future where Raistlin is about to cause the apocalypse but then the greygem is broken freing Chaos? But Takishis betrays and causes troubles style war of souls, and this cause the Shadowfell of Krynnspace to become like the bigger version of Sithicus(Ravenloft).

And what if the Krynnspace suffered any event like the "Sundering" of Forgotten Realms causing the alteration of the celestial bodies?

And the continent Taladas can't keep being the great forgotten.

A Gnome Artificer subclass would have to include a malfunction table. Perhaps their devices are more potent (Used at +1/+2 "caster" level) but are prone to mishaps in classic Tinker Gnome style.

EDIT: Also, they can be clunky and might take up multiple equipment slots. The 3.0 Gnome Artificer from Magic of Faerun did that.

Tracy Hickman shared an update about the Dragonlance project underway by himself, Dragonlance co-creator Margaret Weis, and actor Joe Manganiello. "Since Monday, Margaret Weis, Joe Manganiello and I have been meeting with Dan Ayoub and the incredible D&D team outlining the world book for Dragonlance as well as future product beginning in 2029. The future is going to be filled with epic adventure!"

The update includes photos of a whiteboard, and a reference to future products in 2029.

The whiteboard shows an outline of a book, and appears to show the timeline as the events of the original Dragonlance Chronicles, as Dragon Highlord Ariakas dispatches the Dragonlords and their armies across the world of Krynn. It also includes rules for dragon-riding and combat, as well as rules for warfare. There's also a reference to Kender Highlords, a concept bound to provoke a shudder of... something.

It positions the player characters as the Heroes of the Lance, rather than the original characters from the novels and adventure models, allowing for multiple starting locations in the world of Krynn. Originally, the Dragonlance adventures started in the town of Solace, with players taking on the roles of pre-generated characters which featured in the accompanying novel series.

The D&D event at Gen Con earlier this year introduced the 'D&D Icons' line, featuring worlds and creators from D&D's history. Weis and Hickman were highlighted, along with RA Salvatore, the creator of Drizz't Do'Urden. Joe Manganiello is Chief Creative Officer of the line.
