I was flipping through the channels on TV today and I came across what has got to be one of the most horrible sights imaginable.... The Ashlee Simpson Show. I mean, Come on people! how is that a no talent hack (or her no talent sister for that matter) can dominate the airwaves like they do?

Are people so frickin' stupid as to actually enjoy watching this drivel? I actually feel dirty for having seen it. It is that offensive to me. Words cannot convey the depths of loathing that I have for the people involved in creating, producing and broadcasting the utter trash that is being handed to us as "entertainment". It is reaching a point where I am actually tempted to swear off television.
Admittedly, I probably watch too much of it as it is anyway, but when it reaches a point that entertainment consists of following a corporate made "celebrity" around with a camera and telling those sheep who tune in that they are cooler for doing so, it is time to unplug.

I feel unclean.

It is reaching a point where I am actually tempted to swear off television.

I pretty much did this years ago. Aside from an occasional glimpse at a supermarket when they're on the cover of a magazine, I've never seen the Simpson twins (they are twins, right? )

No TV in my house, though I'm sometimes tempted to knuckle under and get one. No real need, though- my com-pu-tar serves all my entertainment needs.

Jessica has a decent voice, but all of her songs are remakes, and I can't forgive her for butchering "Take My Breath Away." I like remakes, but the artist should bring something new AND good to it, and I'm not sure that can be done with that song - Berlin pretty much nailed it. Maybe if someone did a Country remake....

Anyone other than me ever notice that if you put pictures of Ashlee Simpson, then Jessica Simpson, then Faith Hill side by side from left to right, it looks kinda like an Evolution of Man chart?

I walked in on my son watching some show where Mini Me from the Austen Powers movies was trashed off his mini @$$ and urinating on the wall in front of Peter Brady and some other washed up celebrities. Meanwhile, Star Trek Enterprise was in the process of being cancelled.

Cable serves two purposes in my house:

1) Cable modem.

2) HBO's Deadwood.

I spend probably 12-14 hours a day online. I watch maybe 1 hour of televisioin a week.

For me it's 1) cable modem and HBO's Carnivale, Enterprise and Battlestar Galactica.

I watch a fair amount of TV, but manage to avoid anything that has the word "real" or "reality" in its title or description. That eliminates 90% of the junk.

I watch mostly documentary-type stuff and any decent sci-fi/fantasy I can find. My wife likes "grown-up" dramas like ER, NYPD Blue and Law & Order.
