What’s your favourite movie sword?

Yeah, those blades used by a speedster are serious awesome...
That whole movie rocked hard enough to forgive its glaring flaws, which generally made it even more loveable.

A couple I haven't seen mentioned that really deserve it:

- The Wallace sword from Braveheart. Over the top and amazingly cinematic, just like the movie.

- Abraham Setrakian's silver cane sword from The Strain. Artistic, hidden, and very cool.

- There's a live action Gundam movie in the works, so we may be able to add another giant robot sword to the mix soon.

I was going to go with Green Destiny as a reflex, but it feels bad to pick it when I actually like the iron rod Shu Lien uses in the great fight scene more... and it feels bad to have the winning sword not be the neatest weapon in the movie.

I'm going with Inigo Montoya's rapier.

The 3-bladed projectile sword from The Sword and the Sorceror . . .

I... what... um. The rocket exhaust sound just takes that to a whole new level.

Was there a movie where this kind of sword was used by one of the characters?

For those of you who don't know, this is a Khopesh sword. My current 5e character wields a pair of these.

Reminds me of a Game of Thrones arakh.

While others like Inigo's sword and Luke's green lightsaber also evoke strong sentimental feelings, today I'm going with Navarre's two-hander from Ladyhawke.

Not as iconic and never quite as clearly visually showcased, if I were using it in real life another one I might choose is Archibald Cunningham's transitional rapier/spadroon from Rob Roy. A great cut & thrust sword for a dedicated duelist.

Another honorable mention to Maximus' spatha from the beginning of Gladiator (I prefer this to his gladius from the arena).

Xenk's longsword that fires off its blade revealing a still usable dagger from Dungeons and Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, is goofy, yet I still liked it.

Of the ones mentioned... lightsabers are always cool, I like Dooku's curved handle one. Also points for the Green Destiny. And the one I have is a replica of Bill's Hattori Hanzo katana from Kill Bill. I worked for a games store that had replica swords and I said I was waiting for a Hattori Hanzo. We got them and then the store closed, so I bought it.

Glamdring, the witch-king’s sword, Green Destiny are favourites of mine, but my all-time favourite from a very young age were the twin “trial by stone” swords from The Dark Crystal.

Many times I’ve tried to create replicas, including a relatively accurate foam version for LARP. Unfortunately I had cooked the PVC brittle when bending it and it broke in the first combat…

Yeah. I learned pretty quickly, while making PVC bows (with wooden siyah) that it's far too easy to overheat the PVC. By the time you can actually see that the plastic is soft, it's pretty much done.

My vote would be for Kylo Ren’s janky-arse lightsaber - it looks great and it’s just perfect for the character.

It's good character design. As soon as we see that lightsaber we know it's wielder is absolutely unhinged.
