What’s your perfect Star Trek crew?

• Captain — Sisko. Avery Brooks is a great actor and DS9 is best Trek.
• First Officer — Spock. Because Spock is awesome. Plus free science knowledge.
• Science Officer — Data. I don’t always love his character, but we need an android on our crew.
• Medical Officer — Bashir. Gets a great story arc in DS9 and brings Khan-like superhuman abilities!
• Chief Engineer — This is a very tough one. Miles O’Brien is excellent and he understands both Federation and Cardassian tech. However, Scottie is the O.G. So he gets the nod.
• Helm — Sulu. Anyone who can fly through the Mutara Nebula is the guy I want at my helm.
• Navigation — Err. Today I learned this is a distinct officer role in Star Trek. So… no opinion.
• Communications — meh. Don’t care.
• Tactical — Worf. Because Klingons are sometimes cool (especially in DS9) (did I mention it’s best Trek?) and because Worf in particular is cool.
• Security Officer — Tuvok. Two Vulcans on the crew will make our ship AMAZING.

Some of these positions are a bit muddy in Trek lore. In the spirit of the thread, I went ahead and filled each position separately.

Only in TOS. In TNG helm and navigation is one console, and the other (usually manned by Data) is Operations, which organises most ship functions not covered by Tactical and Engineering. It's closely analaguous to the Science Officer role in TOS, which also doesn't exist in TNG (neither does Communications, which is subsumed into Tactical for external comms and Operations for internal comms).
