Kobold Avenger
Legend
Well FR, Eberron and Ravenloft have gotten 2024 releases, whether it's a completely new setting books like Heroes of Faerun & Ravenloft: The Horrors Within or a sort of supplementary update like Eberron Forge of the Artificer.
Of the other settings released for 2014 5e we got old D&D settings of Planescape, Dragonlance and Spelljammer that got something, and for MtG settings we got Theros, Strixhaven and Ravnica, and sort of a new setting with the Radiant Citadel.
Out of those what should get a new release and what do you think should be it it?
For me:
Spelljammer, I think they should completely try again just do it better this time, I'm fine with it being Wildspace & the Astral Plane with the focus on the Rock of Bral. I feel they need better rules on handling Spelljamming ships, probably some consideration on Bastions and all of the different species can be redone. I'm not completely connected to the 2e canon of the setting, but some things that are compatible with 5e ideas should be reconsidered for Spelljammer.
Planescape, which I liked, while new enough that most things in it don't need to be revised for 2024 compatibility, I feel it lacked player-focused setting material like species and subclasses. Much like how you basically had to refer to other books for things like that Planes themselves (in the DMG) it also had the issue with many of the species like Genasi, Githzerai and Githyanki already published in other books like Monsters of the Multiverse, and some subclasses that really would fit into the setting like the Horizon Walker Ranger also being in other books. I see it as something that could get at least 2 releases, one more player focused with the species (I feel it should also include new Tiefling and Aasimar options too), subclasses and the focus on just Sigil and the Outlands like the 2014 release, and the other being a dive into the planes that's more detailed than the DMG for the more DM focused release.
Strixhaven, was too focused on the adventure and probably needed more focus on other aspects of the school, including what some things like what happens if the PCs become teachers/professors themselves (new Bastion rules!) or managing students as a result of that. I guess some focus on it's world Arcavios would also be desired. It's a school with multiplanar reach, so some of that can be leaned into.
