D&D 5E (2024) What 2014 settings should get a new 2024 release & what should it get?

Personally, I prefer lizard folk, tabaxi etc to elves and sundry Tolkien knockoffs.
I've been working (and by working, I mean idle daydreaming) of a micro setting based around a tropical island where the classic species and monsters aren't present. The island natives are tabaxi, aarakroca, sea elves, tritons, lizardfolk, tortles, and flamekin (like fire genasi) and monsters would be dinosaurs, sahuagin, yuan-ti, and other tropical monsters of the land and sea. The PCs are either natives or shipwrecked on the island. The biggest goal was to experiment with things you don't normally see and skip the Tolkien stuff in favor of exotic stuff.

Not to derail the thread, but that's sounds cool! Let us know how it goes.

Birthright could deserve a new opportunity in the age of VTTs and romantasy novels. If Hasbro wanted a D&D strategy videogame then Birthright/Cerilia should be the choice. If now we can use tablets then we can add rules for region-management without sacrifice of time.

I imagine Greyhawk like 80s fantasy patiche style "Stranger Things", some thing like videogames with the last software but a vintage look, like the boomer shooters.

My vision of Dragonlance is more chuan-shu, the isekai subgenre where the characters travel or transmigrate toward a fiction work like a novel, movie or videogame (example "the last action-hero"). The PCs are within a "fictiotopia", a demiplane imititing the world of a fiction work.

Stryxhaven is more a "sandbox" compared with other settings with more worldbuilding.

For me Nentir Vale is like if Hasbro had released a new line of action-figures with "Warcraft" vibes. Really it only needs to be unlocked in DMGuild.

You shouldn't worry too much about Radiant Citadel. I think there is space for a new title in the future.

Councyl of Wyrms sounds interesting but it would need a lot of playtesting and feedback.

Although I get that the thread is about 2024 updates to 'settings already published in 2014', I now also see some people mentioning settings that have no 2014 version. I would like to see a Dark Sun update (with the limited knowledge I have of the setting). Or, any new 'Post Apocalyptic / Mad Max' setting in general would be great.

I think it highly likely to be a 2024 release which is why I haven't bothered to mention it.

I mean, sure, it was kitchen sink in the sense that Gary had a lot of different areas brought together with very disparate influences, but it still wasn’t kitchen sink like we see now.

For instance, I don’t see Dragonborn fitting into Flanaess, nor would Aarakocra, or Kenku. The “circus troupe” D&D party that is so prevalent in modern D&D would not really fit in Greyhawk unless they just opened the floodgates like WotC did with Faerun.
Aarakocra and Kenku were in 1e, so apparently they have a place in GH. You not seeing Dragonborn fitting is pretty myopic.

Sure, you could make any character choice work in Greyhawk, but then I come to wonder why play in Greyhawk?
Because, perhaps, one likes the setting but doesn't think it needs to be trapped in amber?

People on the internet chiming in without even reading what they are commenting on? NEVER!!!

Anyway i'm against using DM screens.
I always advocated for - in addition to DM screens - using 'player screens', so the players can roll the dice in secret and even fudge them, but somehow the idea does not have seemed to caught on.

Sorry, wrong thread again ?
