Of course it doesn't, that would be totally fine unless the group collectively decided to go for a specific feel. But my point wasn't really about one person doing it, rather having a group that is substantially or wholly made up of races from the margins of the game world. While there is merit to saying "These people are outcasts just like adventurers are usually outcasts" that only takes me so far in believability. (<- That may not be the best word seeing as we are playing a fantasy game, but I think you get my point.)in the abstract maybe, but if one player in your party wants to be one, does that make a difference? I wouldn't call that myopic. I genuinely didn't know about that content.Aarakocra and Kenku were in 1e, so apparently they have a place in GH. You not seeing Dragonborn fitting is pretty myopic.
Because, perhaps, one likes the setting but doesn't think it needs to be trapped in amber?
Yes, others have stated that exact sentiment as well and I don't have a problem with that.
