I play mostly online, D&DBeyond and FantasyGrounds and listen to YouTube, mostly Ghostfire, Mastering Dungeons, with Professor DM and Ginny Di. I used to watch Slyflourish but I have been cutting back on YouTube. I watch some of Critical Role but I have been taking a break.

I play mainly in person, using books. That is my preference.

I'm not anti-VTT. I will and have played online. Tbh, a big hurdle for me when it comes to many online groups is that something about Discord just doesn't click for my brain. I've used plenty of other things ranging from Roll20 to Rpol (play-by-post) to even cobbling something together using a Facebook group (during Covid). No issues with any of the other online resources.

I suppose, technically, I do pay for online gaming resources. Some of the recent crowdfunding campaigns that I've supported offer VTT support either as a funding goal or as an add-on for a small fee. While I do not currently have a dedicated VTT that I use, the reality is that I probably will have art least one online group in the future. So, a couple extra bucks to get virtual resources occasionally makes sense.

Likewise, many things come with free pdf copies. For example, the DCC Against the Thieves Guild adventure (that I can see on the shelf beside me) includes a digital code inside the front cover. That code unlocks a pdf version of the adventure.

When I do play D&D, it is either 5.0 (2014) or an older edition. The few OSRIC things that I own are essentially AD&D 1E. Most often, I play games that aren't D&D.

I don't go out of my way to intentionally watch YouTubers talk about D&D, but ttrpg YouTubers that I occasionally listen to sometimes talk about D&D. Occasionally, if I'm doing something tedious at work, I might listen to a video in the background and just let the algorithm autoplay a few.

Ones that come up tend to be Dungeons & Discourse; Professor DM; easyRPG! (formerly easyGURPs); ...looking at my history... that about covers it. Occasionally, Bob the Worldbuilder pops up, but that's typically not D&D. I follow the Steve Jackson Games YouTube channel, but that's also not D&D and the channel has been quiet for a while. There are a few that I tried watching but found that their advice and general philosophy on gaming started at a place that was different than mine and diverged further from there as I started to play games other than WotC D&D.

For YouTubers, I frequently watch Mystic Arts and GinnyDi.
For paid online resources, I subscribe to Roll20.

I play online using Discord and a virtual tabletop because my group is scattered about (me in Michigan, another in Ohio and the rest down in Texas). I rely on dnd5ewikidot.com for 2014 5e material because most of my physical RPG collection is from 3e, PF1 and Level Up. I have been hanging out on EN World for almost 5 years now.

I play at the table with books with people I've been playing with with for the past 14 years.

Previous to that I played for 5 years with childhood friends. My childhood days of gaming were hit and miss. I mostly "played" dungeons and dragons through world building, but I started an official D&D club at my elementary school.

I played online with Roll20 and Fantasy Grounds for many years during and previous to the Pandemic. I got out of online gaming because my workload as a Dungeon Master was magnified by it. I felt like a computer game developer.

I started exploring message boards, league play, live play games, and YouTubers in the interim between my two long term gaming groups.

I came to Enworld as a Paizo refugee. I was happy with Dungeons and Dragons 5e and unhappy with Pathfinder 2e.

As DungeonTubers go I like Dungeon Craft, Black Magic Craft, and Questing Breast.

I am a Dungeons and Dragons addict.

My immediate instinct was to choose “I mostly play at the table” but then I remembered I play in two games and run two games and one of each is an online game using zoom or discord along with Owlbear Rodeo. I still prefer in-person gaming and even online I let people roll their own dice because 1. I trust them and 2. I find it faster than online dice rollers.

I used to watch more You Tube D&D content but it started to feel repetitive - so now I mostly stick to whenever Matt Colville has a new video.
