that does say users....
Right, so all that is saying is there are 19 million users. That’s a lot different than active players. As I pointed out, I personally have brought hundreds of players onto DDB, all of whom now have accounts and would be considered users, but most of whom no longer play.
Thanks. I guess I have been oblivious to the hate. /shrug.I mean that there's a lot of negativity towards using online tools generally and DDB specifically on this forum. Which is not surprising because this forum skews way older than the D&D player base.
There’s a contingent of gamers who see pencil & paper ttrpgs as an escape from computers, a chance to get away from screens and buttons and get in front of people and use your imagination.Thanks. I guess I have been oblivious to the hate. /shrug.
I wonder if this is a long term thing for that guy from tge Critical Role interview who said people should put less production into game video and get back to playing normally. His previous character was Fresh Cut Grass, so is he telling people to unplug and go touch grass? There’s a contingent of gamers who see pencil & paper ttrpgs as an escape from computers, a chance to get away from screens and buttons and get in front of people and use your imagination.
Both groups i play with and pretty much all the people i know that play ttrpg see them that way. As fun activity to do with friends in person and time away from screens. Sure, rules check is way easier with quick srd check than flipping book pages, but for most part, game is played screen free with real in face social interaction among people. There’s a contingent of gamers who see pencil & paper ttrpgs as an escape from computers, a chance to get away from screens and buttons and get in front of people and use your imagination.
These days, this is one of the main selling points when i talk with other parents about kid's hobbies. Less screens, more in person communication and active imagination development. Friend of mine started to implementing ttrpg-s in his preschool group. Kids love it.When the hobby was new, that wasn’t really much of a feature but these days it’s quite a thing
Is that a stat you saw, or a guess? I mean, I could believe it, but I bought D&D stuff in Singapore and have a Brazilian friend who loved the D&D cartoon, and I know Living campaigns covered European and other countries, so I could also not believe it.the vast majority of the D&D player base is in Canada, the US, and (to a lesser degree) Britain
I believe the point was that everyone is supposed to be clicking option A, so option A should be at a minimum equal to the number of votes to hang out here, and probably should be higher since as you note, some would be clicking only A. It's lower, though, indicating that some folks don't read before voting or else don't care about the OP's request.People choosing option A as "show me the results" whilst choosing not to participate in the survey.
