What are your experiences with Radiant Pulse (9th level Paladin Daily)

Joker

First Post
Hello,

My paladin just turned level 9 and I'm torn between Radiant Pulse (which I've had my eye on since level 3), Crown of Glory and to a lesser extent Shout of Condemnation.
I am a Charisma (+4) based paladin and have a Strength bonus of +2. Most of my powers deal with marking except Astral Thunder and Call to Arms.

Radiant Pulse - Cha vs. Fort one creature within 10. Hit: d10+Cha. Secondary Attack: Cha vs. Fort all adjacent creatures to primary target. Hit: d10+Cha and push 3 squares. Sustain minor: Sustain Secondary attack.

Crown of Glory - Cha vs Will CBurst 1. Hit: 2d8+Cha. Effect: Any enemy which starts next to you is slowed until the end of your next turn. Sustain minor: Sustain the power's effect.

Shout of Condemnation - Str vs. Will CBlast 5. Hit: 2d6+Str and target is subject to your divine sanction and takes ongoing 5 thunder damage (Save ends both).

Radiant pulse has obvious funworthy applications but if it misses, it is absolutely wasted.

Crown of Glory gives me some nice Wardenesque controller abilites.

I like the marking bit of the Shout but I don't like the save ends and the Strength based part.

What do you guys think? What are your in game experiences with these powers?

Our pally has shout of condemnation. He is a strength build and was delighted that a decent strength based implement power of this type even existed. Its fairly potent, with the ongoing making up for the lackluster base damage. But its really beuty is close burst 5(off the top of my head) combined with with its mass mark ability.

Overall, a worthy L9 daily, and a definite welcome addition for Str based pallies. Wouldnt bother for a Chr build.

Unless you fight in a lot of enclosed spaces, Crown of Glory would probably do more damage than Radiant Pulse.

Also, keep in mind that you don't HAVE to use a 9th level daily. You can pick a 5th or 1st level daily that you like better in that 9th level slot.

Personally, I'd pick a power that can heal at range (something paladins typically lack).
