What Happened to Warforged in Mournland?

OK, so not really a rules questions but I thought I'd ask here anyway, since I'm running a 3.5 game.

According to the living construct rules, warforged don't die, they just go inert. Is there any reference to what happened to WF in Cyre on the Day of Mourning?

Is there a warforged army just laying there, waiting on new spark plugs?

Thanks!

Yup, mostly. IIRC, they've been largely unaffected by the Mourning. I guess this is how the Lord of Blades recruited his first followers ;)

'Forge of War' mentions that some warforged have been transformed into a kind of 'unliving' constructs that still roam certain areas.

My plotline basically starts with the PCs encountering a heavily damaged Degarn fleeing from the Mournlands. The fortess was on an extended mission to probe up to Making and recover any Brelish warforged that could be recommissioned. Bastion would have been a priority (Bastion is a different warforged from Bulwark, correct?).

Not exactly. The living construct rules say go inert between 0 and -10 hit points. At -10 or less hps, they are destroyed. I suspect the Day of Mourning reduced most to below -10 hps.
