[What if] Pathfinder suddenly disappeared?

Harder I suppose, but not hard, unless you only what to play in person (not online) and live in an area with a smaller gaming community. Then again, I'm spoiled with a regular group of players who has been playing together for over a decade, so it has been a long time since I've had to pitch games and find players. But as a player, I only join games outside of D&D and D&D adjacent. For one shots or short campaigns, I want to play something very different. I'm currently running Warhammer 4e, but I still consider that to be D&D adjacent even it is plays differently both mechanically and in many of the game's assumptions.

But if I can get a group of people interested in playing Warhammer, I don't think it would be difficult to find a group of people willing to give Pathfinder a whirl. When I move far outside of medieval to renaissance fantasy, however, there certainly are fewer players who are interested. But I still am confident I could put together a group online or at a FLGS in a larger metro area.

I think the problem there could be finding people who want to play a D&D adjacent game, but are willing to not play D&D. I'm not sure that pool is as big as one might want (and of course even, or maybe especially when playing online, one then most sift out people who are inappropriate for other reasons whether its personality or timezone).

Pathfinder suddenly disappears and it's no longer supported. It's in limbo like some games of the past we loved.

Which game system would you migrate to?
Would you stick with Pathfinder 1 or 2e FOREVER fist raised high?
Other?
As Alzrius already said, that is basically what happened in ~2019 for those of us who weren't super happy with the PF2 gameplay.

Though unlike Alzrius I went in a different direction

First I went back started bringing the stuff I liked from PF1 into a heavily houseruled 3.0.

And then I started building my own system, which I've been doing since 2024. Its getting closer now. And looking less like 3.X. But still familiar and it wouldnt be too hard to convert stuff. I'll definitely be including a conversion guide or maybe conversion tools.
