I'm playing a mechanist but am at a loss regarding what the class is in combat*. It appears to be a weak martial fighter with maybe a weapon gimmick. TBH it looks like the party would be be far better off augmenting the warriors gear over mine. I say weak because only a couple subclasses get attacks using INT and the augments are not amazing for combat.
We're currently level 4 and I'm a toymaker, apparently I'm supposed to hide behind my creations and do little in a fight. Yes I use the weapon option for bonus action but as one needs to hit then have a failed save they often just slow combat down for no benefit.
* I like the non-combat part of mechanist. The shard is fun and some of the augments will be fun once the obvious best ones are picked.
