The interesting thing about GURPS 4e is that there are very few new rules in the supplements. The Basic set really does have 90%+ of the system. The other books are typically ‘how to’ guides or more fully worked examples. These are primarily aimed at reducing the GM campaign prep which GURPS is notorious for.

In general, over time GURPS tended to compile rules that showed up in supplements into successive editions cores unless they were too massive to fit there (additional magic systems or things like Powers for example).

Yes, but Pathfinder is not labelled BASIC set on the cover. 600 pages is not basic. Not sure what is so hard to understand in that.

If it’s a lot of work for the GM to run a game and moderatly complex for the players it’s not BASIC either. Again, it’s bad marketing and misleading. A
BASIC is pretty much the same meaning as CORE for the books in question. Basic GURPS book defines how to build a character and general rules on running a game. Same as Core for PF. Fairly simple concept.

Yesterday, ordered Stonehell, and Kal-Arath Collection 1.

This arrived from Lulu. Well packed, but just in cardboard. It was delivered late yesterday, so stayed outside, well they are wavey from moisture absorbed I guess. Not damp, but yeah.

West Coast life.

Otherwise, they look good.

Preordered the Pirate Borg Encounter Almanac and threw in the hard copy of Parrot Borg and the limited edition of Down Among the Dead to come with it next year. (Will be selling my regular edition of Down Among the Dead to help offset the upgrade.)

Just backed the 2nd edition of Good Socety: a Jane Austen rpg. Since I have everything for 1e, I backed at a level that gave me just the new stuff. The deluxe version of it of course ;) and then an extra set of deluxe tokens as well due to my gaming group being large.

I fear what the shipping and VAT will be though, given it will be shipped from the other side of the world.
