"Frieren" does the very high level D&D thing pretty well and it's looking like it might be a genuine cross-cultural hit, but I think the characters might be more interesting than the setting.
The characters are certainly important in the Frieren story. I'm not a reader of the manga (only have volume 1), so I am not sure how expansive it gets filling out the world, but I am interested in what I have seen so far. Many of the characters introduced outside the main cast are also interesting, so it's a good bet smart GMs could do well if the setting is fleshed out enough (and not all the demons are gone by the end).

It's definitely got more potential than a lot of settings both because there is a vast expanse of time the story could be set in, and because one of the major themes of the story is that there is never just one hero or chosen person, but there are always a web of heroes who build on the deeds of each other to advance civilization against the monsters.

I really like Mystara - an was inspired by Karameikos to shift my focus from Tolkienesque faux-england to faux-Balkans/Eastern Europe.

Personally I didnt do much with Glantri as Im not a fan of Magocracies, but the influence is there - make sure to check out the Vaults of Pandius for all things Mystara
I love Mystara for D&D, but it very much is a setting built for "I have the gazetteers forenjoy these 5 things out of the total output, so we're running those areas, the rest is interstitial space between them." Even moreso than the other D&D settings, it is not a well-oiled machine that both holds together but also falls apart if a piece is removed. If you personally don't like Glantri, they can easily just be 'oh, there's a nation of wizards over there, they, uh, keep to themselves. I guess fear of them keeps everyone else from committing to full-scale war on their other borders (something something).'
