I tried to design an adventure set in current Forgotten Realms in Myth Drannor, after Thultantar had been dropped on it and I was shocked to find that the shade monster and/or race has not been updated for 5th edition yet.

Especially egregious, as 5.5e has the Forgotten Realms books, which mention the Shadovar, but don't provide any stats for them!

That's exactly what precipitated this. I literally flipped back and forth a few times, literally saw a few shadovar NPCs and I was like "wait a minute"

I'll add in a few specific monsters that I love: the quaraphon from 3.5e's MM3; the scalamagdrion from 2e (basically a silence dragon); and all the lung dragons (once called Oriental dragons) from 1e's Fiend Folio.

I'm still boggled that stats for playing the goblinoids didn't make it into the 5.5e Eberron book.

They're pretty adamant that Mordenkainen's is still canon, and the 5.5e eberron book was pretty much just a patch to get the artificer working under the new rules (so that they could subsequently sell subclasses in future books like ravenloft).
