D&D 5E (2024) What old monsters should return to 5e?

They're pretty adamant that Mordenkainen's is still canon, and the 5.5e eberron book was pretty much just a patch to get the artificer working under the new rules (so that they could subsequently sell subclasses in future books like ravenloft).

True, but by that argument they could have skipped including the changeling and shifter, too.

It's possible you might be remembering one of these Fiend Folio introductions: revenant, coffer corpes, apparition, death knight, crypt thing, eye of fear and flame, huecuva...you know there are a lot of FF things that need a 5E update now that I look through it!

Another 4e monster I'd like to see come back is the Indwelling Devil! They are devils that can possess humanoids, and seek to hunt down those who escapes the Nine Hells. I love that their art makes them look dragonesque, too.

The name might need a change, because the first thing that comes up when you Google "Indwelling" is a catheters...

I wonder how many adventurers would have mistaken an Indwelling Devil for a Fiendish Kobold. If the answer is 'many' and this devil knew it, it could pretend to be a Kobold.
