This is what I think PF2 did with Half-Dragons. Half-Dragon Kobolds.

I mean, kobolds are expressly a type of dragon in 5.5 so this line is pretty blurred already!

And yet Dragonborn in 5.5e don't earn the type. What do 5.5e Kobolds have that Dragonborn don't have to earn the Dragon type?

PC dragonborn don't have the dragon type, but we haven't seen any dragonborn monsters since Fizban's, and I don't think we can assume that PC and monster's will always have the same type in 5.5.

True. Dragonborn PCs are Humanoid. Having them as a Dragon type would give them something of an Advantage toward certain spells. If and when Kobold PCs come out for 5.5e, they'll probably be of the Humanoid type too.

You can be a kobold tiefling in 5e too, just pick small as a tiefling. Take three levels of draconic sorceror and you can have dragon ancestry too.

aren't tieflings descended through human bloodlines in 5e? unless you're proposing a half-human half-kobold tiefling. in which case i hate that.
