EN WORLD+
Over here in this thread, ENWorld announced "Steel & Skill: The Complete Fighter's Field Guide". And eventually provided the link for the pre-launch page. Definitely sign up for that if you have any interest.

This poll and subsequent thread is to talk about what folks think would be a great follow up.

Please note, Morrus and the ENWorld crew may/will COMPLETELY IGNORE this thread. And that's ok. Outrage is the currency of the internet, so feel free to hit your X-threads with the vitriol. But here? Let's keep it civil.

Letting people vote for their top 2 choices.

I voted Monk because I've loved the Monk since 7th grade when I bought AD&D PHB.
And then Wizard, because I'd love to have some advice to give to new players who choose Wizard. I have one now in one of my groups, and she sometimes seems to get a bit overwhelmed at all the choices and the complexity of the slots vs spell level vs character level vs feats etc...

Honestly ENworld like anyone else should just try to do their own thing, instead of making more 5e clone material.

Starting from a clean base, not with the flaws of 5e and make something new exciting.

In a way, they have with Level Up: Advanced 5th Edition.

As for starting with a clean base, Level Up is still a 5e clone. I'll admit that. However, I consider some of its' material to be an improvement over its' predecessor.

It is a clone, so just from that for me already almost worthless. I want new ideas, not rehearsal of ideas which are there already so often.

Doing a homebrew which is an improvement over 5e is not hard. Everyone can do that in an afternoon (for a class). Thats why homebrewing in 5e is soo common because its so easy to do and to improve what is there.

And now Especially when we have 5.5 which is itself an improvement over 5e (which again can in some points easily be improved). And 5.5 also showed that if you want to be compatible with 5e there are many flaws you just cant solve.

Even if you make a DnD like, a new fresh start allows much more variation as 13th age or daggerheart showed.
There are soo many (almost) untouched mechanics out there, find them not do the same 5e mechanics for the 20th+ time.

Truth. I consider Laser Llama's homebrewed takes on the PHB classes to be much better than the originals in 5e. He's even brewed classes that don't exist officially in 5e like the Magus.

my first pick was artificer because as much as i may dislike 5(.5)e's version of it, the concept is just too cool for me not to want more for it.
my second pick was other because yeah something like a species book could be neat.

they have what's old is new.
guess how much that sells.

I honestly think that 5e is so easy to homebrew is one of the best designs of 5e. That part is really well done. (3.5 and especially 4 are soo much harder).

Thats why I see more 5e class material to buy not that important.

Well that is a "general system" with a not good name.

You could also make Pathfinder, Draw Steel, Daggerheart, 13th age etc. which all sell good or at least fine.
