OK with the new Arcana Evolved coming out I was wondering what race types are you tired of seeing. I mean this book has as dragon/lizard-man race, a cat-man race, a dog-man race and ect. Now everyone wants to create their own races, but which ones are you tired of seeing all the time? For me, cat races. NO MORE PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Cat races have been done to death, but for some reason I still take a look when I see a new one. If the mechanics are sound and they aren't exactly like every other cat race, I'll find a place for them.

For me...half-races. Sometimes it's not so bad, but there have been some really weird ones come out lately. Bastards and Bloodlines was bad about that. That book conjured up so many images of bestiality that I had to rewrite some of the origins for the races that I really liked. (Like the Alicorn.)

Elves, dwarves, all these vartiations of the core ones. I've seen very few cat races, in fact I can't even think of another one besides the one already mentioned.

Small races.

If I was god, small races would get so many penalties to combat capabilities due to their size that it would be suicidal to actually play one. Unfortunately, I am not god, and other than my own tastes I have no good reason to either outlaw small races or implement suggested rules.

However, if you look at some of the small races presented by these books, they look so damn frail. Fighting a halfling is like fighting a little kid. A cripple could kill them. Hell, I could kill one. Nothing smaller than a dwarf please.

You know, I am not seeing this deluge of cat-races. Until races of the wild, I only knew of one in a generic supplement that had a cat-race. And there are one or two in settings.

For me...half-races.

That's a good one.

Bastards and bloodlines is a good example of what not to do, but I'll raise you with Eberron.
