What videogames are you playing in 2026?

At least to me, the Dark Urge option is basically: "Do you want to play as a Baldur's Gate protagonist?" And yeah, I kinda do.
The Bhaalspawn Saga was done. BG3 goes all Highlander 2 on its ass. Honestly I thought I was going to enjoy it, for precisely the reasons you describe - and then I really really didn’t. Some of that has to do with the bizarre way WotC integrated the earlier games into canon, which Larian can’t be blamed for, but overall I just think the writing didn’t hit the mark.

Different strokes, etc. I think the key difference for me is that in the prior games I felt I was playing my Bhaalspawn, and in BG3 I felt like I was playing someone else’s. The less specific writing in the original series means I can feasibly play, say, a Lawful Evil type character who embraces their heritage. BG3 does give you choices, but only two: the slavering psychopath or the weeping penitent. I do love the final confrontation in the temple though- that conversation with dad is so well done- but aside from that it mostly left me cold. I’ll probably do the Embrace Durge at some stage for completeness, but after that it’s back to Tav for me.

I am beginning to feel like having intense amounts of weighty junk loot is a negative in a multiplayer game. The fact that I basically have to do a lot of the looting and inventory management in between our actual play sessions is beginning to feel... suboptimal.

While it does make some notable concessions compared to PC and PS5 versions, the Switch 2 demo of Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a surprisingly smooth experience for the most part.

I've started the pre-launch download for when Subnautica 2 hits early access on Thursday. After all the behind-the-scenes turmoil I hope they're able to bring it to a successful full launch over the next couple of years. At the very least, they have some extra experience when it comes to depicting an evil megacorporation.

I'm enjoying the game so far, plenty to do and explore, and they've improved the base building mechanics while making them feel more relevant. Only had one major issue so far, which turned out to have a quick fix.

If I had to sum it up in a sentence, there are some things that feel unfinished, but nothing feels unpolished.

Well naughty word, now that I complained about it I broke out the old 3DO, and am playing Kingdom The Far Reaches. It's sure not that good at all. Not that I was a fan of it in the first place.
