What videogames are you playing in 2026?

Woah and double-woah! That is exciting.

I would not say that Kratos is defined by his relationship with Atreus. The character exists in a tension between the terrible person he was and the wish to be someone his son can learn from, look up to - to be a father. Part of what makes Kratos compelling is that he doesn't always succeed at either end of that spectrum, he struggles.
I should really play those games eventually. Are they long? Are they hard?

I am aware of but have not played the two previous modern GoW games. Was Kratos solely defined by his relationship to Boy (whatever his name is)?
It is clear from that extended gameplay cut that Fae's relationship with Kratos will certainly impact her in this game, which would make sense (I assume theirs was a loving relationship). And, frankly, it would feel weird if her desire to return to her son WASN'T a major part of her character.
Tricky to discuss it without spoiling the previous two games. Suffice to say, that aspect of her character is already well explored, albeit not from her perspective, but her life beyond that relationship is more just hinted at, so it is more what I'd like to see explored.

They're pretty long, and can be tough at times, but they have a Story mode with reduced difficulty that I tend to use on replays, which makes them more like an epic movie.
For reference: aside from Bethesda RPGs like Skyrim or Fallout 3/NV/4, my favorite games of all time were the Uncharted games. I really enjoy a solid linear experience sometimes, as long as I don't feel like I am being punished for being old and all thumbs.

It's definitely in the Uncharted style of linear storytelling, and for what it's worth I had a lot fewer frustrating combat moments playing through GoW games than Uncharted games.

There were some tough fights, but none I had to drop the difficulty on. In the first one, there's a sidequest around the Valkyries that feels like they straight-up dropped Dark Souls bosses into the game, but the whole thing is optional.

If you haven't played the Tomb Raider Survivor Trilogy (2013-2018) I would recommend it; I always found them way more fun and interesting than the Uncharted games, but I recognize that's not the most common experience. Still, if you're looking for more of that particular experience you could do a lot, lot worse
