What videogames are you playing in 2026?

I was lukewarm about it at best, but the newer one seems like it at least tried to address some of the issues with it.
What are the major issues with it? Is it worth one playthrough for a turn-based tactics addict?
The problem is that can leave you with a secondary weapon that isn't what you want unless you know pretty certainly what you're getting into.
Sure, but my primary weapon will always be useful. The secondary is there to give me options - if I happen to pick the wrong one it’s no biggie. Late-game any way to remove armour is a good bet.
I've always wanted to eventually get around to playing the newer X-Com games. Everytime I see the X-Com 2 collection on riduclous sale for like 4 bucks I always think about getting it but never pull the trigger.
They’re both excellent (if you like that sort of thing) - the first I think is better tonally, but the latter has better gameplay. Much more gamey and less simulationy than the original X-COMs.

Given the rapidfire terrible news coming out of the dumpster fire that is Xbox this week, I think Todd Howard jumping out from the flaming plane with a golden parachute is coming much sooner than ES6...

In gentler news, Pokopia is a delightful example of the cozy builder genre. Really blends Stardew Valley and Minecraft energy.

Probably. There are a few Let's Plays on YT if you want to get a feel for it.

I tend to view the secondary as much "What to use when I'm down an arm or don't have enough action points for the primary" as anything else (at least when I can get pistol skill on the soldier, which isn't always a given).

I tend to describe them as "The action series(s) inspired by the events of the original" though that's not as literal as it could be given the changes in some areas, but it tells you the look and feel. Heck, I've got a character set I downloaded for XCOM 2/WOTC that emulates the look of various actors.

( I largely agree with your assessment of them, by the by. Of course if you've got all the time in the world, XCOM: Long War (the mod) is worth a look for the first one too, even though I've never quite finished it).

New patch for Final Fantasy Tactics: The Ivalice Chronicles today, and this one has New Game Plus!

Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in.
Following up on this, I'm actually a bit disappointed with the New Game Plus. The enemy units in the story battles are still all the same level and same gear as in a regular game. The NG+ mode really should have scaled up the enemies in story battles.

Just dusted off my Nintendo Switch and the obnoxiously too big for the room TV, so I'm now slowly trying to finish Legend of Zelda Links Awakening. Next on deck is either the Metal Gear games or the Darksiders games. Might pick up the Batman Arkham trilogy and Marvels Ultimate Alliance 3 soon too.

Ah yes, the three genders:

Well now the urge to play Mass Effect again is creeping up, but I’m still chugging along in BG3. Made it pretty far into the second act….I think. Just got to Moonrise Tower and have been scoping out the place. I also did most of the Shar temple stuff but I wasn’t sure if I should finish that questline or resolve the Tower quest first. Act 2 is a lot less straight forward then act 1, but I’m trying not to just read a direct game guide, though I have looked up a couple things here and there when I’ve been stuck.
