What videogames are you playing in 2026?

UGH
Yeah, Xbox the last couple of years is a pure horror show.

Looks like Bethesda is being hit hard.

It's kind of just a dumb little personal challenge to try and get them both at the same time. The same way playing Skyrim or Fallout without fast travel is a personal challenge. But in any case restarting six hours into a one hundred plus hour playthough is preferable to playing the whole thing dissatisfied.
Oh, if it's only 6 hours, never mind. That's barely clearing your throat in BG3. :)

I replayed 5 with my friend tons of times, we had a blast. 6 we did not finish so I agree that one is not so interesting.

edit: Looking at the release date I guess our good times with RE5 were 17 years ago, so we might be different people now idk. :p I haven't replayed it recently.
Resident Evil 5 was basically "What if we made Resident Evil 4 co-op? And more racist?" It's got some of the best ridiculous Resident Evil moments though. Punch that boulder, Chris!

RE6's plot is pretty much a nothing burger (even by Resident Evil standards) but it's more co-op Resident Evil and the different scenarios do have slightly different feels to them (eg. Chris is macho military shooter, Leon's is more survival-horror-esque, the third one exists).

If you and a friend have fun with RE5 I'd definitely pitch RE6 as a follow-up, especially since everyone hated it so much that you can probably get it pretty cheap these days.

I have never played a Resident Evil game. Which one would you recommend to a newb who thinks shooting and stealth are more fun than puzzles?

I think GamePass is a terrible model for making games. It si great for consumers but it means devs don't actually get rewarded for their work.
It's just so ill-conceived, people don't interact with video games like they do movies or music.
Maybe they should have put out an Elder Scrolls or Fallout game.
Well, it turns out that everyone left at Bethesda moving forward will be repuroosed to work projects planned out by management rather than directed by creative teams, with a focus on established IP...so basically all there will be from now on from Bethesda will be Fallout or Elder Scrolls, with a reduced work force with low morale...

What could go wrong...

Resident Evil 4 has the best reputation, by a long shot. Should be possible to get on a good deal on Steam at some point, and work well with that Xbox controller.

Indeed.

I wonder if anyone besides Todd Howard would have preferred to do Starfield over Fallout 5 or ES6.

Is that also the first in the "line" that leads to RE9, which is the new hotness now?

I have a Playstation Plus account so I think I get at least some of them as part of my subscription.

If it wqs, you know, better it could have paid off. I'm not terribly confident in modern Microsoft being able to produce good Fallout or Elder Scrolls in a studio model.

It is a beginning point, but the current line starts with 7. 4 is often named as one of the best video games of all time, and is pretty action movie inspired with lots of shooting action.
