What videogames are you playing in 2026?

Honestly I thought that bit might have been something about more Outer Worlds content, which is, I think, also similar structurally and thematically to Fallout?

Ironically I think this is the worst possible time for this news for one particular reason you did not mention. Because it is the about height of irony that this "dream New Vegas sequel" made by "Fallout 1 and 2 vets" is being made precisely after the series literally nuked the world they built in Fallout 1, 2, and New Vegas. Shady Sands is gone, and the NCR is a shell at best. And without those things what actually story elements of their own era do those vets have to work with?

I also feel badly for them having to "indefinitely postpone" an Avowed sequel, seeing as that was their own IP.

All that said - I am intrigued to see if they can built a new Fallout game that lives up to the hype of this much sought after collaboration.

It is a fair point that the game's writers may have to work around the continuity of the TV series. The simple solution to that, though, is to not try to make any kind of New Vegas sequel, and instead break new ground elsewhere in the US - or outside it.

I do really want a Fallout game set in Canada. And with Stephanie Harper being Canadian and now a motivating villain in the series this may in fact be the perfect time for it.

XBox 360 and PS2. Both were more or less backwards compatible, and had some of the absolute top tier game libraries in their own right.

Yeah I am seriously considering trying to find a 360 and going back to that console.

It would be nice if I could plug in my old Xbox 360,, unfortunately they engineered it to be a time bomb and mine outlasted their oh-so-generous "extended warranty" by a whole month.

Never had any Playstation.

Currently have three Nintendo consoles plugged into my TV, the Wii U was made of sterner stuff than a Xbox. The original Switch can be found very cheap right now, and had a huge library. And the Switch 2 is probably the current high watermark of human civilization.

360 emulation is theoretically quite possible on a modern computer, but unnecessary since most Xbox 360 games worth spit run native on modern computers on one platform or another. Heck, forget modern machines, the nine year old OG Switch has most third party 360 or PS3 era games worth mentioning.

It may be likely that the games you think are "worth mentioning" are not the same ones I do. Also, couch gaming is a real thing.
