What would you do if you woke up and everyone had a tail?

What would be funny is to see everyone dread the next full moon like it is Y2K all over again. "Are we all going to turn into 60 foot tall rage monkeys?"

Would there now be greetings akin to a handshake? New social etiqute? What would yours look like? Fashion accesories for it? Mine would be orange and super fluffy.

I'd probably be giddy with excitement, though definitively there'd be lots of short term things to deal with. And as someone who has spent probably way to much thinking about furgonomics I hope I would be well placed to thrive and to help redesign things to accommodate for them!

Learning to clean/shampoo the thing and then groom to keep it from becoming matted would be a process, though...

The social ramifications would be interesting, with a big question being whether, as they're all attached to a human, the different "species" of tails would all act/behave in the same way to the same human emotions/feelings/thoughts or if they would keep their "species-ness" and respond differently. If the latter, then it might not change much other than being another spot for fashion accessories (and maybe warmth or play or display, depending on the type of tail), but if the former then it would very much become another one of our non-verbal communication means and indicators.

Assuming it had that capacity. Imagine if they were randomised, and while some people were walking around with fully prehensile monkey tails, you were stuck with a golden retriever spontaneous-wagger.

All of them are similar in functionality, but they come in 10 different random, bright colors.

"How did this happen?" is a totally practical question. Because until you know that, tomorrow you could wake up with gills but not lungs, or more hands instead of feet. Or an extra head that wants you put in jail for what you did last summer...

Avoiding catastrophe is very practical.
