D&D 5E (2024) What Would You Like to See from D&D Beyond Drops?

TravDoc42

I just think monsters are Neat! (he/him)
I've been enjoying the monthly drops on D&D Beyond of content so far! I am curious to find out what sort of content is coming down the pipe, and I wonder what you all would be excited to see!

Personally, I love monsters (big surprise), and I think this format is a great way to bring forward old oddities from previous editions that haven't found a place in 5.5e yet, like the wingless wonder, the adherer, the spell weaver, etc. I was very impressed by the Celestial Horrors, so seeing unique new monsters is also cool!!

Well, you guys have pretty much nailed my preferences:

1. Stickers. Lotsa them so I can customize maps more.
2. Map tiles. See above. Let me make my own maps from scratch.
3. Cool monsters.
4. Mini-adventures (though...One Shot Wonders is already on DDB, and doing too much of this would undercut them, so maybe not).
5. Magic item cards that could be sent to whichever player got an item. They can see it, the art, etc. and it also adds the item to their character sheet.

This is a question I'm sure WotC would like to have the answers to- Drops are a good idea, and since they changed course and allowed the standard DnDB sharing rules for them I see them being a big draw.

Isn't this literally Drops right now?
Yeah, but most if not all maps on Drops are Mike Schley maps. If you don't like his style, or prefer other artists, I can see people wanting a greater variety/style of maps. Not too unreasonable of an ask since we're eliciting "what would you (personally) like to see from drops?"

I don't know if any of the maps in the Drops are new- I think they're all out of the old WotC back-catalogue. But I'd hardly complain about that... Drops so far seems like a hit.
