Come on, Mazes & Monsters was made-for-tv movie airing on CBS rather than a theatrical release like MegaForce. But it undermines your argument to use some of the best entertainment from 1982! Okay. You're right, we tend to remember the good and the bad goes into the dustbin of history.

When I saw Mazes & Monsters as a kid, I didn't take it seriously, but did think it was cool that it was about my hobby. I wasn't old enough to understand that for all its cheese, it was contributing to the real harm of the Satanic Panic.

Ah thanks, I was unaware of that. Just thought it might be a good idea to show part of my book collection on the 'When to Cull Your Collection' thread.

My wife and I have been reorganizing our game room. We've purchased new shelves, and I'm now putting my stuff in some semblance of order (which is a task, because I'm a librarian by trade). The problem is, I have a lot of stuff that is now very prominent that I don't expect I'll be using at any point in the near future (or possibly, ever).

I have large boxed sets of Kickstarter "All-In Pledges" for game systems that didn't connect with my group. I have multiple copies of core books that I bought so my players wouldn't need to - and we don't even play that system anymore. I have books that I've had for decades from old systems that I haven't used but have a nice historic pedigree (like a complete, never used boxed set of The Night Below). For most of the newer stuff, I also got PDFs with the book purchases - so I can still access the content in many cases.

What do I get rid of? How do I do it? I don't really have a gaming store or used books place in my area. (Well, I do have a local game store that takes trades, but I've already got hundreds in store credit there and don't want to buy anything they've got anyway.)

Re: Donating to libraries. As I mentioned, I'm a librarian by trade. Our local library could possibly use some of the newest D&D/PF books, but they're not going to want the boxed sets that have fiddly bits or obscure RPG titles.

P.S. I'm not getting out of the hobby. Just downsizing. I've bought so much due to FOMO, especially during the pandemic and because of Kickstarters. My gaming tastes have also changed (after realizing how unhappy I was with certain systems.)

I haven't got time currently to read all 130+ posts, but wondering if you made a list? I might be interested in purchasing some of your books. Feel free to DM too; but suggest some short of Google Sheets or simply plain text into this thread or the forum area specifically for selling stuff (and tag back here).

Just a thought.

Never. Already told my 23 year old daughter who started playing and doing a year or two ago when I die, my library becomes her problem.

She did seem a little to happy about that. Guess I should watch my back to make sure its not an early departure.

I believe I have told others I plan to do one of two things:
1). Have them all piled up into a funeral pyre and be burned on top of them when I go.

2) Build a dungeon and litter it with traps leaving my stuff at the end to be the treasure for the deserving...

#1 solves a lot of problems and means people would actually cry when I go.

I knew a kid back in high school that ate books. It was maddening to watch. He'd be reading (often a Stephen King book, which was why it took me forever to get into his work) and would idly tear off a corner of the page and pop it in his mouth.
