Where Did Your Username Come From And How Old Is It?

I have used the Jester as a user name since they were called 'handles' on BBSes back in the 80s. I chose it because I was (and am) a huge Marllion fan and their early material leaned into the jester in both cover art and lyrics.
This Marillion? You are the epitome of taste and refinement my friend.

"Nutation" is a word I liked as soon as I heard it, studying physics at Caltech. (Other examples are "syzygy" and "zarf".) It refers to gyroscopic motion, hence the avatar. I didn't use it in BBS days, though, so only about 25 years.
Every once in a while I will find that someone else on some site is already using the word. I hate those people, and I append a digit.

So a good example, is my best friend's then-girlfriend, and now wife, Ariel. It morphed into Ariuuuul. Then Are-e-uuuuuul. Then Are-uul. And so on.. This progressed so far, that decades later, this woman is still saved in my contacts list as "Earl"

"Hidjius" (what's worse than hideous?), "goober 'narf" (good enough), and "arpisquodes" (episodes) are all words that I use when talking to myself...

I found their album Fugazi on tape sometime in or just after high school, apparently not too many years after it had come out. I honestly was beginning to believe I was hallucinating owning that cassette until Wikipedia showed up - nobody I knew had ever heard of them.

Yeah, they didnt seem to be talked about much.

Usage dates from when I played a LOT of Star Fleet Battles. The group I played with took the side of Klingons as we figured that most folks would want to pretend to be Capt Kirk on the Enterprise. User name was one of the original Klingon captains on ST-TOS. Think my usage here started during the great 'Help us stay in operation' fund raiser. Up to that point, I had been a lurker.

Credit to Gary Larson.

I just thought it was funny.

Mine is from 1990. I picked it as a throw away name for an LPMud as a joke. The allowed prefixes and postfix titles so originally it was "Dont get your panties in a" "Bunch"

It stuck.

Kind of related to usernames, do people have a reason behind their profile pic? Mine is because one time a friend called me a damn dirty ape, so I changed my profile pics and waited for him to notice.
I switched to this pic after a friend killed "me" in his DecoPunk novel "Raiders of the Red Storm" (part of the "Airship Daedalus" series). I had made the WWI style aviator helmet and mask, shortly before, as a homage to the bad guys in his books.
