So I just discovered WHIH World News (which possibly just shows how old I am) which apparently was launched 9 months ago as part of the Marketing for Civil War and the Avengers in general.
Its labeled as Advertising which is cool and consist of short fake News bites presented by Christine Everhart (the reporter who appeared in Iron Man).
Anyway I really like how Marvel is doing its marketing going beyond the traditional trailer and instead exploiting the ubiquity of youtube to do Worldbuilding for the Marvelverse. They did the one shots of course but by presenting these News bites have they touched on a whole new approach to story telling and worldbuilding.
I am reminded of the original Robocop and Total Recall movies where the newsbites and adverts in the movie provided for some of its best comedy moments. Youtube seems to have provided a whole new platform to expand the format and create a new approach.
I'm hoping that WHIH becomes a permanent feature of the Marvelverse and carries on building things beyond the movies (and maybe even featuring heroes that are not going to be on screen)...
