Opportunity cost. An race can be a dragon Sorcerer and get same AC as a turtle. And benefits of that race.

So turtles essentially obsolete.

A few races on same book as tortle make great sorcerers.

You cant actually. DMs control how much treasure is in the gane and how much magic you can buy.

DMG also has a magic item table that contradicts your statement.

They can be available to buy but not in unlimited quantities.

DM controls how much treasure as well.

Theres recommendations for in the DMG as well.

I suspect a lot of people dont actually read it. Including ENworld.

The PHB says healing potions are basic equipment. The DMG refers to potions that are part of a treasure. They are different things (that just happen to have the same stats).

Still doesnt mean they're available in unlimited quantities. And DM can control the money flow if they are.

Ask the DM would be a thing.

DMG specifically says how many common items.s s party should have.

And a DM who doesn’t make plenty of healing potions available to a party that is low on healers isn’t going to have players for long.

They are available, but money is not necessarily in supply so that you can top up after every fight and even if you have enough treasure for that you still have carrying capacity.

There are a lot of adventures where it is hard to stock up on any gear regularly. Tomb of Annihilation is one example.
