XP for a dream battle - yes/no?

If xp are intended as a reward for the players then yes, assuming that death in the dream world means death in the waking world too. If it doesn't then no risk = no gamist xp.

If xp are regarded as representing the character's combat experience then award them whether waking world death is possible or not. The PC had the experience and the consequences are irrelevant.

If I had a fight that took place in a "shared dream," it would have to be something along the lines of the players entering the plane of dreams or being sent there. So yes, I would award exp.

I wouldn't put them in a sitcom-situation where the world falls apart and they they wake up and realize it was all a bad dream.

XP isn't just a reward for the character, it's a reward for the player.

If I spent several hours playing the game only to find out there was no XP for it, I'd be a little annoyed and I think right-fully so.

Yes I would give out XP. I would also make sure that if a character dies in the dream there would be some real world repercussions.

Of course...depending upon the design of your campaign, you could withhold all or some of the XP, calling the remainder "Dream XP" with would be applied to "Dream classes"- IOW, the PCs would be slightly more powerful in the World of Dreams than in the regular, waking campaign world.
