You Gunna die - urban warfare

Hey all

Ever slung that M60 and let its weight nestle into abdomen, draped those rounds across the shoulder and back again, like a tie at a formal. You ever pulled that nasty Kevlar off a sweaty head, felt the salty sting of sweat drip into your eye as you mark a target. Ever been in that situation, you know the one, you have to cross the street but you know, you just know that as soon as you step out of the shadowy overhang the bulletts will start singing your death song... Ever wonder where that next round is coming from, when the barrage will start, get that sinking feeling knowing you're just not getting out of this one.

You reach that point when you just don't know why you are fighting anymore - or who. When you realize you are fighting just to stay alive and for the man beside you because he is your comrade in arms.

Welcome to modern warfare. We are publishing our first modern combat slaughter fest ASAP. Steve and I have been playing shoot em up games for years and now we are giving it to you. It is in the near future and America - as we know it - has collapsed, the shadow government has taken over - or is it the UN, - or is it the multinational corps - or someone we have yet to discover (maybe Greenpeace LOL). Civil war looms and Memphis has just gone to #$@$%$#^&^%%*^. CHoose sides, pick up a gun and fight. Just remember, modern warfare is deadly deadly deadly and no amount of training can help you when that stray artillery round happpens to carreen into your chest - Ouch.

Hi'ya Davis , just how does y'all game differ from Wotc's d20 Modern ? Does it use the same game mechanics, differen ones , or is it a setting for it.

O did you see te article in the Dummycrat about the Marines haveing muenvers in North Little Rock ? Talk about true to life, thats almost like being in Somila. Well they could have come to PB for more realism here the Natives would have shoot back.

Questions

Ok I went and read the blurb at y'alls web-site, looks real good but by "Light" artillery what do you mean 60 mm/ 81mm mortars, a 105 towed Howitzer or a 155 mm Paladin SP How. ?

I know Memphis is close, well known and all but why there ? Unless it's after the San Madrid lets go :D O man is that it ? Mississippi flowing backwards, huge earth quarkes, massive damage, wrath of God, The Cubs winning the Series it's the End Times ain't it ?

Modern d20 in The Ruins of Memphis....

Can't wait for more info on this game, Who'd a thought the campaign setting is in the ruins of my hometown! Too Kewel!

memphis in pain

Why Memphis. Memphis is perhaps to coolest American city with little or no recognition of that coolness. Steve and I have long running love affair with the city. Now we are going to see what happens when things get really crazy - as if we were in charge of memphis. In reality, we just like memphis, it has an awesome set of subcultures and a lot of crazy stuff goes on there that few people know about. We are going to pull out the plugs and let the good times roll. Memphis in flames. Just imagine Stalingrad in 43 becoming memphis in 2010. OUch. Or maybe think of the Mog, think of Liberia or Sierra Leone.

We ain't telling much on the setting yet, but we will definitely be looking for some memphis folk to help us out with the details and the fun stuff. The world has gone crazy, pick up your gun and defend yourself, your family, your friends, your city, your country, your employer or you underboss - just pick it. But for goodness sakes - don't try to cross the river.

As for light artillery - in my opinion, there ain't no such a thing as light artillery, it all weighs a lot and hurts a lot when it hits. Actually, that Todd's department.

One rule snippets though - instant and irrevocable death. Building character trees is a must. As you gain experience your chances for short term survival go up, but long term odds are weighted heavily against you. Be prepared for some pain. Just take a look at casualty figures for line units in WWII. I believe one was as high as 211%.

We look foward to this with glee. It will be based on D20 rules and me and Steve's long running modern combat games.

Let us know what you think
Davis

Davis

Well West Memphis ain't got the best of reputations now Davis so thats no surprise, or do you mean the crazies in Arkansas :D in general lol. This really looks good and knowing t'alls work it will be too, if Todd needs any help from an old Gun Bunny hollor at me I might remember a little from my time at Ft Sill. Best of luck to Steve,Todd and yourself............Thug the 1/2 Orc :D

Davis

What do you mean with casualty figures of 211%?
Did somedody killed twice?

Casualty figures

The casualty figures are based on unit strength.
So a figure over 100 percent, means that out of say 100 men... All of them were killed, and then some of their replacements got killed as well.

Some units in WW 2 sustained over 250% or more

Steve if y'all need another playtester anytime soon drop me an e-mail and I'll be there.
