Your most favorite movies ever ?

Well, although I have seen some threads similar to this one, but are either 'year' or 'genre' restricted threads, I though I would like to ask: what is/are your most favorite movies ever, regardless of year or genre ? I guess it should be a good idea to limit the entries to the top 3 or 5-ish (and having a shared 5 entries on first place is perfectly fine).

Which ones definitely go on the list for me, are (but not limited to) in random order :

Jaws (1975)

Escape From New York (1981)

King Kong (1976) (with Jeff Bridges and Jessica Lang in the lead roles)

The Crow (1994)

And in particular, I had 'Escape From New York' and 'King Kong' pretty much on auto-repeat for who knows how long as a teenager.
But I have to admit I did not see these at release date, but somewhere in the mid 80's I guess.

Might want to edit your title to "your favorite movies ever" for clarity.

I used to keep a list of my favorite 5 or 10 movies of all time, but I've gotten more casual about it over the past 20 years or so. Now I accept that my feelings will vary from day to day and based on context, but a plausible selection could be:

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern are Dead
Grand Budapest Hotel
Master & Commander: The Far Side of the World
Moulin Rouge!

Unforgiven
Bladerunner (first Director's Cut)
The Fall
In Bruges
Across the Universe

I resisted the temptation to shoehorn LotR on there by pretending it's one movie. Fellowship has a good shot of making the list on a different day. Aliens, Children of Men, Tombstone, The Last Unicorn, Inglorious Basterds, and The Blues Brothers would all make the top 10 list at different moments or times of my life.

Out of all these, I think I have only seen 'Bladerunner'. Although I did not really get it as a kid back when I first saw it, I feel my opinion on it will have changed now all those years later. I feel I need to re-watch it now.

I think I have 'Grand Budapest Hotel' and 'Master & Commander' available to me on streaming services, so perhaps I should go watch these now.

I feel that quote/unquote 'shoehorning' LotR in is perfectly fine. Partly in order for me to shoehorn in (and break my own restrictions) by including 'Krull' (1983) and 'The Dark Crystal' (1982) to my list.

My two favourite movies are "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (1951 and "Forbidden Planet" (1956), but I wouldn't say that they're the best. That would be a toss-up between Akira Kurosawa's "Rashomon" (1950), Kurosawa's "Ikiru" (1952), the Wachowski's "The Matrix" (1999; they should have stopped at 1), and Sidney Lumit's "12 Angry Men" (1957). To me, those last 4 are perfect movies.

Looking for the intersection of perfect, ones that continue to impact me, and ones that I at least rewatch some...

Babe
Blade Runner
Mary Poppins

Some that I thought about...

Blues Brothers
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon
Muppet Christmas Carol
Robin Hood (Disney)
Schindler's List
Usual Suspects
Wizard of Oz

Yes, 'The Blues Brothers', of course, how could I have forgotten about that one (even though someone else also mentioned it earlier in another post). "We're on a mission from God".

With regards to "Schindler's List": I can't recall how old I was anymore, but I saw this as part of a school trip to the theater (14 years old ? can't recall) as part of the history lessons, to teach us about World War 2.

For just a sampling, I think:

Hunt for the Red October
Jurassic Park
Return of the Jedi
Die Hard
Ocean's Eleven
(2001)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade

My eleven year-old this past weekend came to us and said "I want to watch this really old movie, it's called The Thing!" So we all watched John Carpenter's The Thing and dang is that a really good movie

Most of those would make my top 20, though for me Die Hard With a Vengeance is the best John McClane movie - putting him on his home turf and making it a buddy movie with Samuel L Jackson just perfects the formula.
