Zombies Eat Brains!

HellHound

ENnies winner and NOT Scrappy Doo
There are many tricks that the undead can muster in D&D, but none of them seem to eat brains NEARLY enough.

Especially for the one-shot game I want to run...

I think I have two ways around this;

#1 - This Method <-- it's a link

or

#2 Increase the CR of zombies by 1 and give them the following abilities

Improved Grab - To use this ability, the zombie must hit with its slam attack. If it achieves a grapple, it may then attempt to eat the target's brain.

Brain Eatin' - If the zombie begins the round with a grapple on someone, they must succeed at a grapple check in order to eat the target's brain. This results in the immediate death of the target.

...

Of the two, I think I prefer number 1

Graaaah!

Sorry, I mean, damn that was funny. Or maybe I've seen too many Romero movies, I don't know.

So if the zombies eat enough brains, do they get more intelligence points, or the abilities to do things like operate doors and fire guns at Joseph Pilato? What if they're named Bob?

"Send... more... paramedics..."

I was considering it, but I think I'll still leave them dumber than dirt.

You know Ghouls can paralyse people and once paralysed there is nothing to stop your average ravening ghoul for doing a CDG on your 'braaaaaaains'

I know that one indeed.

When I ran Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil, we lost one NPC to the blue dragon... but we lost TWO PCs to the ghouls.

Interesting story concept. The group of adventurers watch in horror as a zombie eats the brain of their beloved wizard. After it has finished consuming the brain of their wizard, the zombie looks around in bewilderment and runs of. A couple of days later, the players encounter the zombie again, this time sitting in a Chesterfield Couch smoking a pipe, sipping some the. As the players enter, the zombie says in a cultivated, english voice "So, we meet again".

That is just too much fun.

Wow, what a story. I love it. :D

By the way, HH, do you know if the PoE are back up yet?

HellHound has tricked you...
Vile betrayer!

Given the slow shambeling nature of zombies, mind-flayer esque finnese with brain eating is a bit much. Mabye allow a zombie to deal a good mount of damage while grappling (like a constrict for 4d6 + 1.5 x Str damage) each round and if that drops you the zombie eats your brain?

ummmmmm...... brrrrrains.....
