RPG Systems that allow for characters of diverse levels of Power

Yeah, that's the sort of thing you really need, but then you have to deal with the same people who have issues with things like non-magical "encounter" or "daily" powers getting weird about it, when the real answer is that it works that way by convention, not any real in-world reason in a lot of cases.

I try to fully inform folks about the nature of games before play begins. If they get weird about it after that, it is there own dang fault, and they can just find a game more suited to their desires.

Cool! But, how and why was the BBC involved? Is EDEN somehow owned by the BBC?

Not sure, but The BBC had a very nice animated series called Ghosts of Albion. It was written by Amber Benson (Tara from Buffy), and it later became an rpg, using more or less the same system as the Buffy RPG.

Sadly the show is no longer availible, as it was flash animation, and the BBC site has been archived for years. I wish someone had the old amterial and could put it out on DVD, or at least soemhow save it for posterity in one way or the other.

Lately I've been watching the amazing "Frieren: Journey's End", which for any unfamiliar, features a team of young heros accompanied by a 1,000 year old elf and it got me thinking again about wanting to play a game where one can play a mentor or elder figure like Gandalf or Frieren without overshadowing the other characters at the table. I'm sure there are a few systems that do this, Ars Arcana I believe has such a feature, as does Mouseguard, but neither system is to my taste, so I wondered if others know of RPG's where more powerful characters are not necessarily more important.

I think Cortex Prime does a great job at it. We used the kit to make a Exalted hack using Cortex (free link here) , and it allows all kinds of power levels, items and types of powers in a easy system.
