Garthanos
Arcadian Knight
I have been thinking about some races which have problems - the core D&D races are pretty much defined in terms of there advantages, which is cool in a sense because the PC's are the heros after all - and even if a race is prone to problems the heros seem likely to be the ones who have over come those problems.
To be specific I was thinking of a race with "control issues" a kin to the shifters one idea I had was
Plagued by Nightmares
"You dream of being the beast you would prefer to deny"
Sleep is a thing you avoid well like the plague and you have a bonus of +5 on saving throws versus sleep. If you fall or are forced unconscious by any means including traumatic injury when awakened you gain d8 temporary hitpoints. It takes one additional hour to gain a full rest.
I would also like a Ritual which is effectively like learning the Trance ability from the Eladron but based on the skill roll it may take differing amount of hours anywhere from full 8 hours to down around 2 hours... this trance is however a deep trance and you are not aware of the world around you like the eladron are.
Those plagued by nightmares could avoid sleeping using the above.
