Does anyone else really like the newest Dragon Magazine?

It has 4 prestige classes, which is pretty cool. Too bad they are kinda dull.

It also has come cool spells and a cool background for them. And one of the spells actually adresses what happens when you reflex save for no damage.

The saurials are cool creatures that can add some interesting flavor to a campaign.

The Saurials article has a huge sidebar with more info than the MM on handling natural weapons.

There are some cool magic items. Including a vecna item - yummy.

Plus those irritating little blurbs about computer games in the back are actually useful in this issue - they have a spell and some feats.

I wish all issues were more like this one.

I thought the Fiendbinder was really cool. The rest I agree with. But over all, I agree that this was an excellent issue of Dragon.

I really enjoyed the dinosaur-themed spells, myself. Combined with the info on saurials, I have a lot of inspiration to run a "Lost World" kind of game. Maybe I'll set it back in prehistoric Greyhawk, when serpentfolk and saurials rules the teeming jungles and elves were just an upstart race of barely-sentient mammals.

Sounds like fun. :D

One could also set such a game in the world that Ray Winninger is currently detailing in Dungeoncraft... :)

I just picked it up today and haven't had a chance to do more than peruse.

I love the cover though. Fits one of my player's new PCs almost perfectly.

Yeah, I've really enjoyed the Dungeoncraft articles. I added serpentfolk to my Greyhawk campaign as soon as the first Freeport adventure was released, and they've just become such a large part of it now. Hidden kingdoms. Lost worlds. I love it!

This issue didn't really tickle my fancy, but that is why I like the magazine. It is diverse enough that I love every word of one issue and can be completely disinterested in another. While some people write the mag and say I didn't like this article or that interpretation, I say GOOD. Diversity makes the game better. I am glad to hear so many people enjoyed the issue.

As a VERY VERY casual reader of Dragon, I'd like to comment on the latest issue.

A few observations/opinions:
1) I thought the Computer game pages were a waste of space. They didn't even say what platform the game(s) were for! (ignore that if they are available for every gaming platform)

2) I also noticed the incredible amount of ADS!
I was actually shocked near the beginning of the mag, as I thumbed thru TWENTY-EIGHT pages and only got the Table of Contents, a weak editorial or 2, mailbag and previews, and a comic strip.

3) I am quite surprised that this magazine sells for $5.99 an issue.

4) As for the contents, other than the Saurials and the spells, I was very disappointed.
They seem to making a distinct attempt to power down any feats, spells, monsters, PrC's, and magic items.

5) That CR 20 plant, unless I missed it, could be blown apart by a mage just simply casting fireballs at it.
The quasi-artifact magic itmes seemed to be MORE expensive than if you made them yourself, and they were quite weak on the power scale.

6) The class combinations was a complete waste of time, and the PrC's were extremely niche and fairly unuseable. I particularly thought it interesting that the Fiend Binder had nothing to do with orcs, flavor wise. And mechanic-wise, why would an orcish PrC 'require' CHA?

7) Also, why a OA, Japan-like sity (Edo) in the wilderness issue?

Overall, a very weak supplemeny to Masters of the Wild.
The previous Dragon mags that accompanied the classbooks seemed to be much better thought out and actually had content to them.

*ching ching*
