Charles Wright of Frog God Games is in hospital. The art director was in surgery to have part of his foot removed after diabetes related complications, a situation which has escalated to complete amputation below the knee. A US military veteran, he lacks funds for personal help and transport to therapy, and his friends at Frog God Games have launched a Go Fund Me campaign to raise funds to help him. They're looking for $10,000, and they're already most of the way there, but every extra penny counts.
There's also an update regarding The Blight Kickstarter campaign. While it says that currently there are no specific delays, they anticipate that there will be some effect on the delivery schedule of the Kickstarter.
[h=4]Update from Krista and Bill Webb[/h]
First, we can't express how grateful we are for the response to this plea for help. Chuck is deeply moved by the generosity of his friends and FGG fans. Thank you.
Second, update on his condition. What started as the removal of a few toes alarmingly developed into a complete amputation of his leg below the knee. This was the worst case scenario and now we must deal with it.
I just spoke to one of his nurses. He will be in the SICU for another day and then be moved to the "floor" where his stump will heal, he will be fitted for a prosthesis, and learn how to use a walker and get around. The nurse said he would be moved soon as he is strong and doing really well (good news). He will remain in the hospital for a week or two at the most (which seems way too short for all that!!). We will have a better idea of how long he will be in hospital care early next week.
If you would like to send him a card or note of encouragement the contact address is:
Charles Wright
c/o James A. Haley Veterans’ Hospital
13000 Bruce B. Downs Blvd.
Tampa, FL 33612
The whole FGG team is working to find him the resources he will need to function in both the near future and farther down the road to full recovery. We need our layout guy! And we love him and are sick with worry for him.
Again, thank you for your generosity and help. It will definitely ensure he is housed and fed and getting to his therapy appointments.
Gratefully,
Krista and Bill Webb
