Epic music for campaign!

Kazy

First Post
First post, looking forward to meet you. Etc.
I've known this forum for a while but I decided to register since I need some help for musicalizing my bosses. There's quite a few, and if the thread gets enough attention, I might tell the story if people want to hear it.

Anyway~ Here's the list of bosses:

Nerull Black Guard -
Ashworm Dragoon/Cavalier -
Halfling Thrower (Quite a few prc dips) - Halfling Dervish -
Mindfalyer/Illithid Savant -
Lich -
Wizard (Typical tower dude in a windstorm <Frostburn Feats>)
Half Elemental (Earth) Half Golem Halfling Monk (Lich's Phylactery) - Lich (Same Lich as before)-
Paladin (Not quite sure what's so awesome about him yet) -

And there's a few bosses missing, but since I haven't planned the story's second chapter, I'm not quite sure what they're gonna be.

Anyway, if someone wants/needs some explanation, I'll be happy to give them. Thanks in advance~
Kaz.

PD: I don't care if it's possible having an aberration-ey halfling monk as a phylactery. I want its awesomeness.

You could try playing the Black Aria album if you can find it. Very dark and foreboding. Down side is the album's less than 30 minutes long.

I also typically include some classical elements, like
David Arkenstone - The Dragons
Gustav Holst - The Planets (particularly Mars)
Edward Grieg - Hall of the Mountain King
Hans Zimmer - Nyah (bit of a hispanic feel though)
Wilheim Richard Wagner - Ride Of The Valkyries

and also the World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King soundtrack

It's Cliche, but Star Wars Episode 1 "Duel of the Fates" has the kind of sound I model all other Epic combat music against.

Not sure if I'm allowed to link non-D&D related resources, but Pandora.com is a website working a music genome project. All very fascinating, but the practical thing to address your question is you select a song or series of songs, and the website program finds for you other songs along similar lines. you have the option to Like and Dislike as it randomly produces songs in an attempt to narrow down exactly the style you're looking for. I'd encourage you to find a few songs that are exactly what you want, than use this program to expand.

I'll see what I can find there.
Thanks~

But, then again I'm not looking for dueling songs (even when they don't hurt at all), more like presentation songs for the bosses. EG: In any game, when the bad guy is talking to you there's music in the background. Then it switches to the combat theme.

You can try out the album "PASSION" by Peter Gabriel. Its the soundtrack for the "Last Temptation of Christ". If you can afford the slight "orientality"...
Its a brilliant album, and in D&D it certainly builds up the mood...

Dragon Age Origins soundtrack has also a few tracks for what you want... i think...

Ohhh... another great track for introducing some great evil is the one played when Tom Cruise enters the occult mansion in "Eyes wide shut"!!!!
It's supposed to be some old romanian-orthodox chant, in which they've reversed the lyrics or whatever... always creeps me out...

Are you looking to limit yourself to or exclude any styles of music, or does anything go?

Also, how long do you want the pieces to be?
