The Chronicler PrC

Chronologist

First Post
I've created this prestige class for my Factotum character; it is based on the Pathfinder Chronicler class from Pathfinder. It is designed to have good skill use and casting, and trades the stealth and healing of the Factotum for better anti-trap, general adventuring, and more casting.

Chronicler
Hit Dice: d8
Skill Points: 8+Int points per level
Class Skills: All skills are class skills (like the Factotum)
Fortitude: Poor
Reflex: Good
Will: Good

Level and class features
1 Loredelver, Practical Magic, Deep Pockets
2 Relic Hunter +2, Live to Tell the Tale
3 Improved Linguistics +2, Improved Aid +4
4 Eclectic Scrolls
5 Relic Hunter +4
6 Tricks of the Trade
7 Not Today, Improved Aid +6
8 Greater Eclectic Scrolls
9 Improved Linguistics +4
10 There and Back Again

Loredelver: Chronicler levels stack with Factotum levels to determine the Arcane Dilettante and Cunning Knowledge class features.

Practical Magic: A Chronicler can choose 3+Int modifier cantrips he knows, they become spell-like abilities that can be cast at will.

Deep Pockets: As the Pathfinder Chronicler ability (ie. carry more stuff, have gear you don't have to mark down on your sheet)

Relic Hunter: +2 to Knowledge and Appraise concerning relics (100+ years old) and +2 bonus to AC and saves vs. traps. +4 at 5th level.

Live to Tell the Tale: As Pathfinder Chronicler, 1/2 Chronicler level per day, reroll an ongoing save.

Improved Linguistics: +2 bonus to saves and DCs of spells and effects that depend on language. +4 at 9th level.

Improved Aid: Aid Another grants a +4 bonus at 3rd level, +6 at 7th level.

Eclectic Scrolls (Su): A Chronicler of 4th level can craft unique scrolls. They take 10 minutes per spell level to prepare. The maximum spell level is 1 less than the maximum spell level of Arcane Dilettante. Other arcane casters must pass on a DC 15 + Chronicler level Decipher Script check in order to use. Maximum total spell levels is your Chronicler level. At 8th level you can create them with Contingency cast on them.

Tricks of the Trade: Chroniclers of 6th level take no penalty from improvised or no tools, and take only 1/2 the check penalty when rushing or taking other miscellaneous penalties.

Not Today: Once per day, a 7th level Chronicler can evade a killing blow or shrug off a deadly effect. Any spell or attack that would reduce the Chronicler to negative hit points, or any instant death effect, can be evaded. Doing so negated the effect and fatigues the Chronicler.

There and Back Again: Twice per week, a Chronicler may cast the following spells as a spell-like ability: Greater Teleport and Plane Shift.

Thanks Dandu. Does anyone else have a problem with it? Too strong? Too weak? Are the class features at inappropriate levels? I'm implementing the class next saturday, so any comments would be nice.

Base attack bonus is 3/4 level, ie. that of a Cleric or Factotum.

The prerequisites are as follows:
8 ranks in any 2 knowledge skills
4 ranks in Linguistics (a consolidation of Decipher Script, Speak Language, and Forgery)
Arcane Dilettante class feature

The prerequisites are pretty loose, so anyone with at least 2 levels of Factotum can take it at 6th level. Also, there is a roleplay prerequisite in that your character must actually be a Chronicler. In our game setting, Chroniclers are basically guys who follow or join adventurers on quests and document what goes on in order to keep a truthful record of what transpires. It's a little based on the Chronicler from The Name of the Wind (by Patrick Rothfuss).
