Donate Gaming Supplies to the Troops!

Trepelano

First Post
I am about to head back over to the Middle East for a 3 month stay and I have heard that there is are quite a few gamers at the base I am going to. Since I will miss Gen Con this year, I want to do something to help create my own "Tent Con" while I am there.

From past deployments, I have found that most folks simply don't have enough room in their personal luggage for much gaming supplies (what with all the uniforms, helmets, vests, ect we have to take) so I need your help to build up a good stockpile of gaming supplies there.

I have contacted the Services group over there and they told me that anyone interested in donating game supplies (rulebooks, dice, miniatures, boardgames, card games, ect.) should send them to:

Community Activy Center
379th E Services/SVRC
APO AE 09309

I, myself, plan to take my core rulebooks for D&D and some dice, but that is about all the room I have. I plan to mail them some of my unneeded miniatures (mostly dregs from my D&D Miniatures collection).

New or used, all game supplies would be appreciated.

Thanks for posting this, I'll get a care package ready.

And hey, stay safe as possible and come back in one piece.

Thanks for serving your country-

Rich

Thanks.

It doesn't have to be new stuff (though that is always appreciated), if you have some used books, minis, ect. you can send those.

Also, if anyone out there has any contacts with any game companies, this might be a good way for them to get rid of some inventory.

I have been trying to come up with a good name for our "convention in the dunes" and so far the best I have come up with is "Def Con". Maybe someone out there has some suggestions.

(ooh, I wonder if we could get Gen Con to send us some of those "goody bags" they have every year).

How about some older 2nd edition material? I've still got my DMG and Monster Manual from back in the day that I don't use.

Should I leave a note or something in the package?

I am pretty sure they will know its donations for the troops, I spoke with them on the phone and they are aware the stuff is coming. Once I get there (very soon, probably about the time the first stuff starts arriving) I will make sure they know how to organize it.

And yes, old edition stuff will work great, as well. Thanks.

I'm going to round up whatever I can from my own collection and my gaming group and send them out next week.

Treplano, do you think that it would matter to any of the guys over there if we wrote some thanks and well wishes on the inside covers of the books?
