Drow count, right? My brave Underdark ranger Dover Teleron was chopped right the hell up by a blade barrier cast from ambush by a drow priestess and her retinue. Sigh - I shouldn't have provoked House Everhate, I guess. My DM (Fathead) did not pull punches!

For as much as my PCs are regularly pounded upon by humanoids, most of their deaths in recent memory have been at the hands of non-humanoids. Been at deaths door numerous times at the hands of elves, but it seems as though our party healers have an easier go getting to me with elves/humanoids than not.

Unless you count liches ... I could've died at the hands of an elven lich several times, but then I rarely know the original race of the liches I fight.

Almost had a PC slain by an admiral of the Imperial Elven Navy in the Spelljamming setting, in a duel to the death, but never gotten close since then.

Personally no. But as a GM I once killed a PC with a Drow. Coup de Graced him, no less. Drow are EVIL.

Several times, I think. But not nearly as many as my opponents. I have played many elves over the years.

Hmmm...I think we can exclude drow from this as I don't think that was the intent of Homer's comment.

That said, never had a pc die to either drow or other elf.

As a DM, I've whacked PCs with both drow and other elf types.

I've never died in D&D... except that one time I played a Monk. But that was to Giants.

I've caused an Elf to die once. But never been killed by one. He was a PC. It wasn't totally my fault. It was sorta my fault. He was a high Elf... how could I not want him dead. I was a Asian Elf (seriously, my Dm had Asian Elves). I played a Wu Jen.

As a GM, I've killed many PCs with elves simply because they dared to trespass into an elven domain. In such instances, the players in question are always stunned that they were ambushed and captured (after one or two PCs die) by these Neutral Good-Chaotic Good elves, and then we'd get into some sort of argument about the nature of alignment.

Player 1: "They'd present themselves to us and threaten us!"

Me: "Why? And give away the element of surprise? These elves are fewer in number compared to humans and dwarves, and you've made no effort to contact any of them. If there were an elf in your party they might've held their fire and done something that you ask."

Player 2: "But they're Good, and we're Good aligned."

Me: "Does that mean you're friends? No. They don't know you, or your intentions. For all they know you could be advance scouts for a pre-emptive invasion of their forest."

So, yes, I've had elves kill PCs. I've had a PC killed by an evil Wood Elf Ranger who was handy with a Sunbow.
