For those of you who don't know me as Hellcow, my name is Keith Baker. I'm best known as the creator of the Eberron Campaign Setting and the card game Gloom, but I've also done work for Goodman Games (D20), Green Ronin (D20, M&M), Atlas Games (D20, Feng Shui, and Over The Edge), and others. Over the course of 2009, I'm going to be traveling around the world. I'm looking to see interesting places, meet interesting people, and play games with them. So if you're interested in playing Eberron with one of its creators (or other games), check out the sblock!
Spoiler:
One of my primary goals here is to meet interesting gamers across the world. If you're an ideal subject, then I'd like to have some time to get to know you and your home. As such, what I'd like is hospitality (be it bed, couch, or floor space) for three nights. One of those nights, I will entertain you and your friends - running Eberron or OTE, playing Gloom, whatever you want. Another night, I'd like YOU to entertain ME. What is it that you feel I should see in your home? Not necessarily the biggest tourist attraction - but the thing YOU think is most interesting. Is there a game YOU want me to play that I'm not going to find anywhere else? Something that inspired you as a gamer? Or just the Biggest Ball of Twine in Oslo? The third day, I'll rest, write, and mind my own business... look at things that have caught MY eye. In the meantime, I'm always willing to talk about gaming, writing, Eberron, or what have you. Needless to say, you're welcome to spread these three days out over your gaming group; I'm happy to spend a night on three different sofas, as long as my goal is met.
Of course, I'm simply not going to have time to spend three days with every interesting person (and I'm sure there will be many people who just don't fit on my travel map). So I'll also be looking for flyby visits - crashing just one night while I'm en route, either running a game for you or just hanging out and talking.
And hey, as option number three, if you've got a convention going on and you're looking for a guess, well, most conventions are three days... I'd certainly be happy to run games and meet people.
So...
1. If you're interested, drop me an email at onesmallkeith@gmail.com . Odds are good I'll be doing some mass mailings as I get my plans together, and it's easier for me to contact people through email than to deal with private messages or screennames.
2. I plan to be writing about this experience, whether blogging or something else. Are you (and your gaming group) OK with being mentioned in my story? I can certainly change names to protect the guilty, but if you want to be off the radar entirely, let me know.
3. As mentioned above, I'm planning two sorts of stops: the one-night layover, and the three-night get-to-know-you-and-your-town visit (mind you, it could be three nights on three different sofas, if your gaming group wants to take turns hosting). Which can you support?
4. Tell me something about yourself. What do you do? When did you get into gaming? What are some of your favorite activities? What's the most unusual thing about you (that you're willing to share with a stranger)? The trick here is that while I want to see as many places and people as possible, in a case where I've got multiple invitations in a single region, I'm going to have to make a choice; I don't want to spend two weeks just bouncing around one state, let alone a single city. As noted in question 2, I'm planning to write about this in some form... and I'm curious as to what sort of character you'll make in my cast. I'm sure that all of you are fascinating people, because in my experience, everyone is fascinating in their own way. But hey, if there's something ESPECIALLY unusual about you, let me know!
You can see the current list of states and countries I've heard from on my livejournal. Thanks again to all of you who have already offered your hospitality, and I hope to meet as many of you as possible in the coming year!

Well, Serbia is on your route from Austria to Bulgaria. Unfortunately, I do not have a spare bed, but I will check with my friends to see if some accomodations can be arranged.
I've never played Eberron, but Keith, that's an awesome idea.
I love running Over The Edge, too - so don't feel like Eberron's your only option here!

If you work it out, definitely send me an email! I'd love to see a little of Serbia.

There's every chance I could show up in Singapore at some point, if someone's willing to put me up and show me around. Unfortunately, I'm pretty committed to being in Europe from Early June - August at this point, so I don't think I can make the convention. But if there's other times that would work, let me know.

Keith, you might consider posting over on RPG.Net, either in Tabletop Roleplaying Open or the RPG Spotlight: d20 / Dungeons & Dragons forum (which, by coincidence, has a thread titled "Hellcow" on the first page at the moment).

I've never played Eberron, but we've used several things from it in our games (warforged being high on the list). Are you swinging by Vancouver? I'd love to have the Eberron experience!

I think I should be able to put you up for three nights if you come to Singapore. I'll drop you an email with the relevant details.
I did something similar to this (but just around the U.S. and a little of Canada) a few years back and met tons of awesome people while I did it. I'm sure you've got my area covered, but I'm near Sacramento, and would be happy to host you. I'll shoot an email out.
