| Chicago Gameday XXII Planning Thread; our date is March 21st This thread is for planning purposes only. A separate thread will be created for player sign-up closer to Gameday. A link to that thread will be posted here. Gameday XXII Planning
This is the planning thread for Chicago Gameday XXII. If you're interested in running an event for Gameday, or just have planning help to offer, this is the thread for you. If you're confused, go here to learn more about Chicago Gameday. The Time, The Place, The Basics Gameday XXII will be held on Saturday, March 21st. Events start at 9:30am. Gameday XXII will be hosted by Games Plus, a.k.a., Earth's Greatest Game Store™.
Gameday has two event slots that are 4-5 hours each: a morning slot from 9:30am to 2:30pm, and an afternoon slot from 3:30pm to 8:00pm (and beyond). We typically run six events in each slot, with 4-6 players plus GM in each event. GMs may request more/fewer seats in their event, but we have found that 4-6 players per event is ideal.
If you do not have an ENWorld Community Supporter account with Private Messaging enabled, please make sure I have your email address. Feel free to email me. Current Event Lineup Special Breakfast Event: 8:00am?- The Chrysalis Revolt, WJMacGuffin
Morning: 9:30am - 2:30pm- Star Wars SE, sw3333
- Hero's Banner, Tim C Koppang
- D&D 4e, Vyvyan Basterd
- ORE, ekb
- D&D 4e, AnthonyRoberson
- Storming the Wizard's Tower, Reidzilla
- Minis, Mark
Afternoon: 3:30pm - 8:00pm- D&D 3.5, Mark, RPG room
- Zombipocalypse, HinterWelt
- D&D 3.5, Fenril Knight
- Paranoia XP, WJMacGuffin
- Unisystem, Ninjacat
- Mouse Guard, buzz
- BD&D, GORAK
Special note: We will be sharing the Games Plus event space with Worldwide D&D Gameday. Consequently, six events in the morning and seven in the afternoon are the maximum number of games we'll be able to run. Submitting and Running an Event How do I sign up to run an event?
If you would like to run an event for Gameday XXII, please post a proposal in this thread. What info should I provide as part of my proposal?
At the minimum, we need to know: - The game system you will be using
- How many players will be accomodated
- A catchy title
- An event "blurb," i.e., a basic summary of your event
- Whether you want to run the event in the morning or the afternoon
Optional, yet helpful info you can provide includes: - If there is a particular table you would like to use
- Whether your event expects prior experience with the rules
- Whether your event is or isn't suitable for all ages
- Whether pregens will be provided
- Links to said pregens (PDFs, Word files, etc)
- Links to info about the game system
- Links to any other files you'd like to offer potential players
- Any images you might like included in the final event description
How long should my event last?
Your event should last at least 4 hours.
If you are running an event in the morning, it should not run longer than 5 hours, as you will be taking time away from the lunch break.
Events run in the afternoon may last longer than 5 hours, but please be respectful of: a) Games Plus's hours of operation, and b) the needs of players who may be reliant on the Metra scheudle. When do poeple sign up for my event?
A separate player sign-up thread will be created in a few weeks. You will be notified in advance of the sign-up thread going live. May I screen potential players?
Pre-approval of player sign-ups is not allowed. By volunteering to run an event, you're agreeing to run it for whomever signs up. Thankfully, everyone who comes to Gameday is totally awesome. What if I want or need to cancel my event?
Once the sign-up thread begins, GM volunteers have until one week before Gameday in which they may remove their event from the schedule. After that point, the schedule is set, and you are expected to come ready to run your event, regardless of whether anyone has signed up for it. Barring genuine emergencies, of course. May I run more than one event?
I would ask that people initially refrain from submitting more than one event. I want to give as many people as possible the chance to submit an event before GMs start doubling up. As soon as we see there is room available, GMs can add second events. Suggestions
If you have suggestions, recommendations, or ideas for enhancing the fun of Gameday, please feel free to post them here and we'll open up discussion.

| thalmin: Are there any specific tables that have been reserved for WWD&DGD? I wouldn't want someone to call dibs on a table that was already spoken for.

| I'd like to run a D&D 3.5 game in the second slot in the rpg room, please. Details to follow. I'm thinking high level, like 15th or 17th. |

| I will definitely be running some Mouse Guard, but I'll wait to pick a slot until I see what else is on the menu!

| I'd love to also run a simple medieval/fantasy miniatures game in the first slot on one of the miniatures table if there is space available. I ran three slots of it at the Little Wars convention last weekend and it went very well. It is family friendly if anyone wishes to bring the youngsters out for the early slot this gameday.
Thanks, as always, to Buzz for organizing this and to Curt for hosting at the best gamestore in the world. |

Yup. That's what they call it on the store schedule. Five seats available for this and eight seats for the minis game should there be room for it on the schedule. Thanks. |

| I will be there to run another indie game. I haven't run my own Hero's Banner in a while. I am also thinking it would be fun to run Space Rat. I'd like to put it up for a vote. But if I don't hear anything one way or the other, I'll just pick one. |

| Hi Buzz.
I'd like to run another Star Wars Saga Edition game in the morning. It would be for five or six PC's, and I'm working up the description.

Zombipocalypse: A Day at the Zoo
You are trying to escape the end of days in Chicago. You have heard there is a National Guard hold out at Des Moines but first you need to stop at the Zoo. Jenny, one of your group, worked there as an assistant and she saw a rhesus monkey that researchers had found was immune to the Virus. You need to get this monkey to the hold outs at Des Moines. You need to survive. Doing both will be difficult at best. Can you face Brookfield and the Infected?
This will be using The System where all you need is 3d6. Characters will be provided. Characters to come along soon.

| Hello, Buzz!
I would like to run that D&D 3.5 Eberron module "The Golden Dragon" in the afternoon, which is for 5 people but can fit up to 6, the one I was going to run last time but ended up having to work. THAT particular problem has been ironed out this time so I shouldn't have a problem!
I'll edit this post later with a more detailed description of the module later. Have a good night, everyone! |

First I've heard of it!
Any idea if you want the morning or afternoon? Quote:

| I'd like to DM/Coordinate/Assist with 4E PHB 2 D&D Release Event.
Is this something we'd like to integrate into the Chicago Games Day, or run concurrently/seperately? |

| Hi! I'll post some details tomorrow, but could you please reserve one evening table for Paranoia, 6-8 players.
Also, I'd like to offer a palor narration style rpg called The Chrysalis Revolt (a GameChef 2008 entry) for breakfast. Again, details will follow tomorrow.
Thanks! |

| Hey, Everybody!
Forgive me for tooting my own horn for a second here, but I'm gonna:
I'm making my RPG publishing debut in May, in the first Cartoon Action Hour: Season Two supplement: "After These Messages". For those who aren't familiar with CAH:S2, it's an RPG that's 100% based on 80s action cartoons, built from the ground up to reflect that genre, not just a Random RPG System With (Insert Genre Here) Flavor Text And Artwork. Nope, this thing runs on Cartoon Logic and Cheese, Awesome (Totally!)
Anyway, there was a contest to create a new "series" for the game's first supplement...and my entry won. You can read the official announcement at Spectrum Games' page, _here_.
So, that's coming out in May, so I'm fairly obligated to run a session at the Summer GameDay...unless people want a sneak preview this time? But that'd have to be if there's room for me to run a second slot -and I really want to play Tim's Hero's Banner, so I'm happy waiting until June or even July, heh. This time, though, I still owe Laurie a session of Unisystem Supernatural.
Tim, Laurie ran a Hero's Banner session at the Antioch GameDay last year, and she absolutely insisted her players should play if you ever run it again. Sounds like a blast to me, so you've got my vote for HB, and I'm willing to bet Laurie would want to play with you as GM again, too.
That being said, Buzz, I'll run my SPN event in whichever slot Tim doesn't want to run in (since he doesn't seem to have any preference either, I'll say afternoon, but if he'd rather run in the afternoon or it works better that way for whatever other reason, fine by me.) "Survival Camp"
The sun sets late in summer, so by the time it's been dark for even a little while, it's already late at night. So when the Roadhouse's phone rang an hour after sunset, the Harvelle's bar was already busy. Which was a good thing when it turned out the girl on the other end was a friend of Jo's in desperate need of help. Jo has all the help she could ask for to lend her friend a hand...as long as they can get to her before it's too late... "Survival Camp" is an adventure-horror game for up to six players in the setting of the CW television show Supernatural, using the Unisystem Classic rules. Unisystem is a simple system, requiring only 1d10 for all resolution rolls, no experience necessary. Familiarity with the TV show is also not required, but it might help. All you really need to know is that the supernatural exists: ghosts, demons, hauntings, possessions...and some of those who know about it fight back. Saving people, hunting things... (More information on the event can be found _here_.)

Is it like "Maid RPG" but with spaceships? Hehe. |
