Reviewers wanted!

Well, that was fun

We're trying to get some reviews of War of the Burning Sky up - after two years, it seems there are only a about 3 reviews in existence, all of the first adventure only. And given that we're about to release the 3.5 compiled hardcover and move into the WotBS 4E process, we really need a bit of noise made!

Here's the list - pick one, some or all of them, as long as you promise to review what you get:

EN World PDF Store - RPG PDF downloads

So I'm going to give away copies of [the PDF versions of - don't get too excited!] any of the WotBS adventures you feel like reviewing. Just drop me an email at russmorrissey@gmail.com. There are a couple of conditions:

  • You can write a review on any adventure you like, on as many as you like, or even on the whole saga if you feel up to it.
  • Please take the obligation seriously - you don't have to rate them well, and you should feel no obligation to write a positive review, but you do have to follow through with good, decent, thought out reviews in a reasonable timescale.*
  • You should post the reviews everywhere you can think of. Here at EN World is obvious, as are RPGnet and RPGnow, but if you can put your review somewhere else please do! Your website, your blog, on other RPG community sites, anywhere you can think of (though don't spam, obviously - just places where reviews are appropriate!)
I'm not handing out an unlimited number of copies, so drop me that email quickly! I'll post here when I think I have enough.

*Addendum: after a few queries, this line seems not to have been clear enough. By "good, decent, thought out reviews" I mean "reviews of reasonable length and detail, not one-paraagraph comments", not "positive reviews".

Incidentally, I'm also looking to increase EN World's roster of staff reviewers, so this would be an ideal opportunity to show you can produce solid, unbiased reviews in a decent timeframe.

You can't bribe me! ;)

I have the complete Saga in pdf already, with half of them printed out hardcopy (I'd planned to run the saga before our group imploded - again - halfway through The Scouring of Gate Pass).

Given a chance, which may not be immediate given the way RL is affecting my weekend, I will try to work on a review of The Indomitable Fire Forest of Innennotdar to post soon. And hopefully work through the other adventures. They'll be at ENWorld, but it's a start.

Seeing how it is difficult enough to get everyone together for our ongoing campaigns, I doubt I'll have time to play-test WotBS. Would you be against just read-reviews that don't involve play-tests?

I have all the PDFs, thanks! :)

My WotBS campaign was a PbP game on my private forums. Unfortuately, these are loooooooong and it takes forever to complete even a single adventure. I have read and planned out to about Monestary of Two Winds, so I can give a "read-only" review up to that point.

Would this be sufficient, even if I gloss over the last half and post my thoughts about it.

99% of reviews are not playtest reviews. While I'd always prefer playtest reviews (they give valuable feedback), I accept the reality that reviewers can't play everything they receive. As long as you can promise you've read it thoroughly, I'm happy!
