Arcane Power Excerpt: Vestige Pact

Our second Con-based pact...hmmm, interesting. The class seems to be designed somewhat like some of the PHB2 classes, especially the barbarian or warden, where their daily powers have lasting effects that modify other abilities (in this case, the pact boon and eyes of the vestige at-will), perhaps for the encounter (there are definitely some rules elements missing from the preview).

Finally another Con-based pact!

Eyes of the Vestige actually looks very powerful, since it allows you to curse foes behind their front lines. With the Zutwa pact, you then get Prime Shot. And it targets Will.

On the other hand, the vestiges don't seem as cool as in 3e. Where are their wonderful titles? I don't see any "Angel in the Angle" here.

I really like this mechanic here.... except the Ugar pact boon looks really useless... A pact boon that lets you move the zone created by a daily power? um what if your cursed drops and you havn't used that daily this encounter?

I don't think you gain access to a particular vestige's pact boon without expending the daily power first.

Pact Boon: You have a pact boon associated with your active vestige. When an enemy under your Warlock’s Curse drops to 0 hit points or fewer, you gain the benefit of your active vestige’s pact boon.

It goes on to say you choose your active vestige after a short or extended rest, so I'm pretty certain your interpretation is not correct. Learning the daily expands your list of vestages you can choose after your rest, it's not nessicary to cast it.

I like it... definitely worthy of AP - seems a bit complex to manage for a new player but gives some really cool options. I definitely could see this being a very exciting option fluff wise... the particular vestiges seem like they could really be put together in congruence with the DM's campaign idea. Switch a few things around and you could have a really cool storyline going.

It looks cool. Also confusing.

I think that ultimately I am going to find the vestige pact disappointing, as I am absolutely certain that WotC is not going to spend the same amount of time describing the vestiges as it did in 3e. That was what made pact magic so great- it gave a hearty flip of the ol' bird to people who don't like implied setting in their game mechanics, and packed in as much setting based flavor as it possibly could.

Is it just me, or does some of this seem a bit Leader-y.
I'm speaking of course of the King Elidyr augment on Eyes of the Vestige. You let an ally make a saving throw?
