Portfolio updated, picture based on WotC's Vampire Hunter mini!

Klaus

First Post
After much time doing the layout for Creature Collection 4e (it's done, coming out real soon, promise!), I decided to do a painting of my Raven Queen-worshiping, warlock-multiclassing rogue. Since I use WotC's Vampire Hunter mini from the Unhallowed set, I used it as a basis.

Here it is Claudio Pozas - In Her Majesty's Service

Don't forget to browse the gallery for more art, and let me know what you think!

Yay for the CC4e being available soon. And very cool picture, Klaus.

Edit: What's with the left leg? Or am I missing something.

Not a bad piece of artwork. Very nice. Though I see the blade slash cutting off the head, I like to think he's so awesome that the decapitation was done by shooting the hand crossbow.. :)

Looking forward to checking out the CC4e.

It looks to me like he's stepping out of his cloak...as if it were a magical portal or something, which I find a nice effect.

Overall, I like the image, but the left arm looks a bit off to me.

Ding! We have a winner!

It's a Cape of the Mountebank. The slashes across the crossbow arm match the bloody fingernails on the vampire spawn. Note that the footprints in front of the vampire spawn have snow leaping out of them, like someone just stepped off. I opted not to paint in the left foot, but I may reconsider if it's too unclear.

After getting some feedback here and on Circvs Maximvs, I spent another hour on the painting to spice up a few things. Mostly, the vampire spawn's torn jeans, a holdover from the sketch (where the undead was supposed to be a zombie), became priestly vestments of Orcus. The rogue is now more clearly stepping out of the cloak, thanks to a couple of highlings, the blade (Winterfang) is drawing more blood from the wound and the foremost raven is now looking directly at the execution.

Neat picture,

I instantly connected the scratches to the bloody claws, nice touch it looks like the spawn got in the first blood but the hunter got the finishing blow. Odd crossbow, no stock and it looks like no fletching on the bolts. Are the bolts supposed to be steel or silver?

Definitely metal bolts.

The crossbow is based on a 17th-century Belgian hand crossbow. Since the crossbow is so small, it had to avoid losing thrust (which would happen if the bolt had to travel over a wooden surface). To that end the bolt rests inside the sights and next to the string, and the "belly" of the crossbow serves as a second propeller.

This is now my favorite weapon ever.
