The town of Mistydale is an unremarkable farming town of about five hundred farmers. There isn't even any rumors of haunted spots or mysterious ruins that would draw adventurers from around the realm. But there is one remarkable thing about it.
And that, my friends, is the Goosehammer Inn.
It's a simpkle in and is meant for the local farmers and the occasional adventurer that comes through on his way to some legendary exploit. But in the back yard there is a fenced area that has something quite remarkable.
The Golden Goose. It is rumored to be the only goose of its type, but nobody knows for sure. It is a beautiful goose, but instead of being pure white, its feathers are a golden hue and tinted with hints of a golden crimson hue.
It is indeed a magical goose, for it has been here for three hundred years. And it cannot be moved from this spot. Many people have tried. It has even been taken from bandits thinking they can make a fortune off of it, but somehow, it always appears back in this small area.
Adventures from hundreds of miles away have come to this inn to undertake a challenge that the locals don't even try for anymore. And that is, if you can hit the goose with a throw of the hammer, you can have a single free meal on the establishment. You can have three throws for one silver, but you must use their hammer for they don't want it to be killed.
To date, no one has hit the goose. It has always moved out the way. And we have had adventurers that have fought the very gods try their hand. Everybody in town believes there is some sort of enchantment, but nobody has found the secret. And nobody local will even try anymore for they know it is completely impossible to hit the goose.
In one event, an epic level Wizard got so frustrated after spending a hundred platinum, cast a meteor shower spell in his rage. It leveled several buildings, even an inn.
But the goose was still there.
So then, this is the mystery that is to be solved. How is it that it is completely impossible to hit this animal? Some people believe it to be a god in hiding. But in truth, nobody knows if it is a simple trick of the eyes nor do they know if there is some sort of involvement of the Gods.
But all that is known for certain is that the goose is an immortal, probably the only one of its kind, and nobody can hit it under any circumstances.
And we know that it likes to play with children. It will let young children ride it.
